Saturday, January 29 will mark the 2022 edition ofWWE’s popular Royal Rumble event. As has been the case with the last few years, this year’s Royal Rumble will include both a men’s and women’s Rumble match, with the winners getting to face a champion of their choice in the main event of WrestleMania.WWEhas started teasing some of the entrants for these Rumbles, recently revealing 19 of the 30 competitors that will appear in the women’s Royal Rumble match.
The women’s Royal Rumble entrants are a mix of Raw and SmackDown superstars as well as free agents and Hall of Famers. On the Raw side of things, Carmella, Dana Brooke, Nikki A.S.H.,Queen Zelina, Rhea Ripley, and Tamina have all been confirmed for the match, while SmackDown’s representatives include Aliyah, Charlotte Flair, Naomi, Natalya, Shayna Baszler, and Shotzi. The Hall of Famers in the women’s Royal Rumble are Brie Bella, Lita, and Nikki Bella.

Four free agents have also been confirmed for this year’s women’s Royal Rumble match, including Kelly Kelly,Michelle McCool, Mickie James, and Summer Rae. Mickie James is a particularly surprising entrant as she is the Impact Knockouts Champion at the time of this writing. WWE usually goes out of its way to avoid talking about other promotions, but it actually acknowledged James' status as Knockouts Champion, which has caused quite a bit of buzz.
Royal Rumble 2022 Women’s Entrants
With 19 women confirmed for the Royal Rumble match on January 29, that leaves 11 spots that still need to be filled. It’s likely that WWE will keep a couple spots open for surprise entrants, but one has to imagine that the rest of the vacancies will be filled by active members of the roster. Fans can expect more entrants to be announced on upcoming episodes ofWWE Rawand SmackDown.
In the meantime, seven wrestlers have been confirmed for the men’s Royal Rumble match at the time of this writing, with Angelo Dawkins, Austin Theory, Dominik Mysterio, Montez Ford, and Rey Mysterio representing Raw and Sheamus the sole SmackDown representative so far.Jackassstar Johnny Knoxvillehas also been confirmed for the men’s Royal Rumble as a celebrity entrant, following in the footsteps of past celebrity entrants like comedian Drew Carey.
WWE’s Royal Rumble event will stream live on Peacock on Saturday, January 29 at 5pm PT.
