Aside from the series of Main Missions that contains the story ofValkyrie Elysium, players can find a whole set of Side Quests as they progress. Sometimes Side Quests can be acquired from NPCs (non-playable characters) that can be found in the areas where the main story takes place.

In some cases, players will need to pick up an item or interact with an object to get a Side Quest. However, once players get a Side Quest during a Main Mission, they can’t just start it. The Side Quest has to be activated later. This guide will show players how they canactivate side questsand get helpful rewards in the latest entryof theValkyrie Profileseries.

How to Activate Subquests

While on a Main Mission,Valkyrie Elysiumplayers cannot progress any Side Quests they’ve found. Instead, they must return to Valhallaor complete the Mission first and then return to Valhalla.

Once they are in Valhalla,Valkyrie Elysiumplayers will needto go to the Astral Globenear Odin’s Throne. The Astral Globe allows players to view Story Missions regardless of whether they have been completed.

On this menu, players willsee a button prompt to switch between Main Quests and Subquests, which is what Valkyrie Elysium calls Side Quests. On the Subquest menu,Valkyrie Elysiumplayers will see the Side Quests that they have found and unlocked in Main Missions so far. From there, players will be able to select a Side Quest or see what rewards are available for completing them.

Just like with Main Missions, all Side Quests can be replayed. Selecting a Side Quest will give players the option to activate it.

What do Side Quests Entail?

Side Quests inValkyrie Elysiumare pretty straightforward. Players will either need to find an item or kill a bunch of enemies as they progress toward the endpoint of the area they are in.

In some cases, players will need to do both.Valkyrie Elysiumplayers will soon notice that all the Side Quests take place in areas they’ve already visited. Side Quests are not particularly long, and they can be completed quickly since the majority of them all follow a similar format. After completing the objective, there will occasionally be a briefcutscene with an NPCinvolved with the Side Quest.

Are Side Quests Worth It?

Though they may suffer from a lack of variety, Side Quests more than make up for it with the rewards that they provide for going off the beaten path to complete them. Some examples of these rewards would be things like Ambrosia and Divine Arts.

Ambrosia increases the maximum health ofValkyrie Elysiumplayers, while Divine Arts are skills that can be used in battle. Since enemies are weak to different kinds of elements, Divine Arts are extremely useful for stunning bosses and doing extra damage. So while the Side Questswon’t hold a candle to Main Missions, the rewards more than make up for that.

Valkyrie Elysiumis available for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It will be available for PC on November 11th.
