The iconic Pyramid Head fromSilent Hill 2is a complex killer to learn inDead by Daylightand has many details for players to grasp. The Executioner’s special ability is unique and requires practice to perfect. Executioner is more challenging to pick up compared to other killers, who are formidable and often a bit easier to master.
Beginner-friendly killers, such as Wraith, are easy to understand and are immediately effective when used by new killers. In the hands of an experienced killer, Pyramid Head is lethal and should not be underestimated. Pyramid Head’s Add-ons are somewhat underwhelming, but with good perks, he becomes terrifying to face.
6Torment
Forcing survivors to Torment themselves is essential in perfecting the Executioner. Killers can perfect this by predicting where survivors will run and be forced to walk over a Torment Trail due to a lack of choice. Tormented survivors save Pyramid Head time when he uses his Cage of Atonement ability rather than hooking them.
Survivors in his Cage of Atonement cannot usefun unhook perks, such as deliverance. Leaving many Torment trails is an excellent strategy as it increases the likelihood of a stray survivor accidentally stepping on them or one in a chase with no other choice.
Older trails are replaced with newer ones once the total limit is reached, so replacing old Torment Trails in unimportant areas with new ones in strategic locations is a good idea.
5Pallets
The number of pallets in a map inDead by Daylightcan turn a map from a killer-sided to aheavily survivor-sided map. Survivors use pallets to slow killers down and buy time for other survivors to work on generators. Many survivors will do their best to prolong dropping pallets to extend the chase or drop it too early to play it safe.
Pyramid Head can trick survivors into making an error when it comes to dropping pallets. When charging his Torment trail, survivors may think Pyramid Head is about to use his Punishment of the Damned attack.
Pyramid Head killers will use this to juke survivors to build distance but will end up shocked when the special attack doesn’t occur. Survivors playing pallets safely can also be hit by his ranged attack if the killer predicts the early pallet drop.
4Punishment Of The Damned
This ability is the bread and butter of Pyramid Head. Missed attacks are devastating as Pyramid Head will be slowed down and survivors have a chance to run away from him. Anticipating if survivors will maintain their direction or quickly move in another direction comes with practice and learning how each survivor behaves.
Some survivors will try and dodge his ranged attack, while others will prioritize running away. Using his ranged attack behind walls will require advanced game sense to predict where the survivor is.Aura reading killer buildsare excellent for this ranged attack, as many survivors will not expect Pyramid Head to initiate a ranged attack out of the blue on them.
3Cage Of Atonement
Cages of Atonement work similarly to hooks when it comes to hook stages, but they differ when it comes to perks. Survivor perks do not work on Cages of Atonement and killers cannot camp them. When Pyramid Head stands too close to a Cage of Atonement, it will teleport away within a few seconds.
During this teleport time, caged survivors will receive a 10-second pause on their hook timer. When using Cage of Atonement on a Tormented survivor, they will be sent as far away from Pyramid Head as possible. This can be a good idea when many players are near the caged survivor, as it will cause survivors to run across the entire map to rescue their teammates.
The primary advantage is the time saved by not picking up and hooking survivors and eliminating any chances for a save. Survivors can’t pallet stun, get a flashlight save, or break a hook to rescue a survivor.
2Final Judgment & End Game
Final Judgment works similarly to a Mori and requires the survivor to have two hook states and be Tormented. Killers should remember to use Final Judgment when they can, as it saves a lot of time, especially during the late game when every second counts.
Using Cages of Atonement may not be a good idea during the end game. Pyramid Head’s Cage of Atonement may send survivors directly to their teammates and make rescuing easier and faster for the survivors. Escaping will be easier as the Cage of Atonement may be right next to an exit gate. It’s also worth remembering that survivors lose their Tormented status when rescuing survivors from a Cage of Atonement.
1Add-ons & Practice
Using add-ons that extend his range attack is beneficial as it enhances Pyramid Head’s base power. Using two range extension add-ons will make a noticeable difference and allow Pyramid Head to reach players he otherwise would never be able to.
Players experienced with his ranged attack can pull off stunning hits behind walls and loops due to the extra range. Practicing his ranged attack will take lots of time, but once players get a feel for the attack, they will have a much easier time around pallets and loops.
The best way to use his ranged attack is when survivors are locked in animations such as vaulting a window or pallet or dropping a pallet. Even experienced survivors will struggle to dodge a ranged attack from an experienced Pyramid Head.
