Not all unique items are created equal inDiablo 4, as the developers have purposefully elevated six of them to a tier of their own. This change in design philosophy contrasts against the direction established inReaper of Souls, and players still remain uncertain if it’s for the better or worse. The extremely rareUniques in Diablo 4 follow in Path of Exile’s footsteps, and the items that belong in this category elevate practically any build, and work for any class (even if that class can’t equip the weapon type under normal circumstances). The Uniques that have arrested the community’s attention since launch have been the ever-iconic Harlequin Crest and The Grandfather, with the former being even more relatively powerful than itsDiablo 2counterpart. ThoughDiablo 4has had its issues with itemization, with many players feeling frustrated over Item Power, Resistances, gems, and a general lack of attribute balance, there have been enough standouts across all equipment categories to keep them hooked on the grind.RELATED:Diablo 4 Players Aren’t Happy About World Boss Spawn TimesHowever, the true carrot-on-a-stick for lootfarming inDiablo 4revolves around six rare unique items, and only a few have dropped for players thus far. Lead Class Designer forDiablo 4Adam Jackson posted all six items on Twitter in an attempt to clarify where fans can obtain these gamechangers, as well as to offer a preview of which rare Uniques exist in the game thus far. Given the seasonal content format inDiablo 4, it is widely assumed that the developers will continue to expand on rare Uniques with the release of new seasons.

What separates these Uniques from other items is that they’re not needed to make any of theDiablo 4endgamebuilds work, but having them certainly does elevate a player’s potential. In addition to The Grandfather and Harlequin Crest, Doombringer and Andariel’s Visage are also returning toDiablo 4as super Uniques, and they provide equally potent powers when equipped. As mentioned by Jackson, any of the six Uniques can only drop above Level 85, and they will always drop at an Item Power of 820.

Though it’s likely that Blizzard will increase Item Power in the future, these Uniques will continue to be the end goal for manyDiablo 4players with gear grinding in mind. It may take some time forDiablo 4to expand on its variety of Legendary Aspects to match its predecessors, but the foundation remains sound. Withtwo expansions on the way forDiablo 4, there will certainly be plenty of opportunities for new Uniques to join this exclusive family.

Diablo 4is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
