Although the firstSuper Smash Bros. UltimateFighters Pass has come to a close, fans are already clamoring for what’s coming next to the game with thesecond Fighters Pass. One fan took it upon themselves to introduce a most unusual fighter into the role with a surprisingly convincing video.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s second Fighters Pass is still under development, with fans only knowing that it’s promising to bring six new fighters to the game. While this man’s addition isn’t going to be one of them, the video is impressive enough that some might wish that it were.

Rather thanintroducing a new character toSuper Smash Bros.who originally came from a video game, YouTube creator Thibault Charroppin went to work creating a video that brings his cat, OwlKitty, aka Lizzy, toSmash. The video uses existing footage fromSuper Smash Bros. and combines it with edited footage of his cat. What sounds simple is actually quite complex, as the creator details in a second video how much work went into getting OwlKitty into the right poses and then compositing that footage together withSmashin After Effects. The work clearly paid off, as OwlKitty prances through the video bouncing Mario off her paws, 1-shotting King Dedede, and even rolling around and ‘taunting’ after successfully stunning her opponent.
This is far from the first time that Charroppin’s cat has entered into the world of media. The OwlKitty channel has made a name for itself by bringing OwlKitty into a wide variety of movies, likeJurassic WorldandThe Avengers, but she’s also had a role in a prior game video, absolutely devastating theplayer character inRed Dead Redemption 2.
Fans ofSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatecan enjoy the video while they wait for further news on the second Fighters Pass. Plenty of rumors have swirled around who the actual next fighter will be, with claims thatCrash Bandicoot might come toSmashnext, though these rumors are currently unsubstantiated. The one thing that’s known for certain is that Sakurai and Nintendo aren’t taking suggestions for the fighters, and that the final fighter to join the game with the first fighter pass was the controversial Byleth.
Cats have unfortunately been the subject of concerns ofanimal abuse among streamersrecently. Although OwlKitty won’t be the next fighter inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, it’s nice to see someone in the gaming community highlighting their cat in a wholesome and safe way.
