Nintendo’s most iconic mascot has had plenty of fun alternate forms throughout theSuper Mario Bros.series, all of which grant him useful new abilities to aid him in his ever-changing quest to save the Mushroom Kingdom from the evil Bowser. This October’sSuper Mario Bros. Wonderwill be no different, with one of the most talked about power-ups being the game’s new Elephant Form.

This pachyderm-themed costume was revealed alongsideSuper Mario Bros. Wonderitself, and as its name suggests it transforms Mario into a massive elephant that can seemingly stomp through blocks and swat away enemies with his trunk. All ofSuper Mario Bros. Wonder’s playable charactersaside from Nabbit and the Yoshi variants will be able to use Elephant Form, prompting fans to make numerous memes and artwork of the new power-up in action.

These fans are anxious to take control of Mario’s Elephant Form inSuper Mario Bros. Wonderlater this month, and one modder by the handle of Unreal64 is doing so early by adding the new pachyderm plumber to 1996’sSuper Mario 64. They shared their work in a YouTube video depicting their Elephant Mario skin in action as the hero of the Mushroom Kingdom stomps his way through a snow-covered level and is greeted by Princess Peach herself. While this modded version of Elephant Mario lacks the increased size of the real thing, it’s still a relatively faithful recreation of the new power-up’s design.

As mentioned before,Super Mario Bros. Wonderhas inspired plenty of imaginative fan artin the build-up to its October 20 release. Many of these pieces imagine what the Switch exclusive would look like on older Nintendo consoles, dreaming up colorful box art for a hypothetical Super NES version ofSuper Mario Bros Wonderor putting together a nostalgic commercial in the style of those for the original Nintendo Entertainment System.

Now fans have an idea about what Mario’s new Elephant Form would look like had it been introduced inthe seminalSuper Mario 64thanks to Unreal64 and their newest fan project.Super Mario Bros. Wonderis now only a couple of weeks away, meaning that players will soon get to unleash the real Elephant Form as Mario and his friends in their latest mission to stop Bowser from taking over the new Flower Kingdom and its seven unique regions. In the meantime, fans will likely keep coming up with interesting mods and artwork as they eagerly await the release of Mario’s next 2D platforming adventure.
