Starfieldis seemingly on track for a global release sometime in the first half of 2023, according to Bethesda itself. The long-awaited flagship role-playing title from the creators ofThe Elder Scrollsand the recentFalloutgames promises a major new step forward for its portfolio and the fans of Bethesda’s own specific brand of RPG sandboxes.
While a firm, concreteStarfieldrelease date is pending still, the game was initially supposed to launch in November 2022 only to receive an admittedly unsurprising pushback as the release date began to loom close. Now, with news of the publisher’s other major upcoming release,Redfall, potentially having been pushed back, some believe thatStarfieldis bound to receive the same treatment very soon.

When news broke thatRedfallmight get a release date delayin 2023, some felt that the same is sure to happen withStarfield, too, as both games are being released under Bethesda’s own publishing umbrella. Now, however, Bethesda itself has put upStarfield’s official support pages that specifically mention that the game “arrives exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC in the first half of 2023.” The fact that the pages have just been published suggests that the information is up-to-date and relevant still, and that Bethesda expects to hit the game’s current release window after all.
As interesting as Arkane Studios’Redfallmight be,Starfieldis Bethesda’s crown jewel for 2023. It’s not overly surprising to see that the company would want to have the game out before the first half of the year is up, and the gaming communities are excited to finally experience the company’s next RPG title. It’s been a couple of years since Bethesda last put out an entry in one of its own mainline franchises, withFallout 76being the most recent.
There’s been a whole slew ofrumors and speculations aboutStarfieldover the years, and the game only received its first official gameplay showcase late in 2022. Everything points to it following in the footsteps of its predecessors, with classic, albeit improved, first and third-person combat, heaps of exploration opportunities, and a comprehensive suite of editing systems that allow players to customize virtually every aspect of their in-game progression.
It’s easy to understand whyStarfieldis one of2023’s most hotly anticipated games. It remains to be seen, of course, whether Bethesda can deliver on all of its promises for the game, but everything mentioned so far has been fairly believable and positive, and if the game ends up coming out in the first half of 2023, it very well could end up being this year’sElden Ring.
