Summary

One craftyStarfieldplayer put together an incredible ship shaped like a giant mech. They later took online to share their feat of spacecraft design, adding to the growing pile ofimpressive vessels that theStarfieldfandom constructed to date.

As is tradition with Bethesda RPGs,Starfieldprovides players with an abundance of various features and activities. And though they are entirely optional, its shipbuilding mechanics are among the most intricate of those systems. As a result, many ofStarfield’sten million playershave been experimenting with a wide variety of creative vessel designs throughout September.

The latest suchStarfieldengineering feat comes from Reddit user Advanced_Sector_3442, who recently managed to build a giant flying mech that wouldn’t look out of place inArmored Core 6. The end result of their effort spans seven floors, four of which are used to accommodate the ship’s hips and legs doubling as landing pads. In order to nail the humanoid robot aesthetic, the author of this unique vessel had to get a bit creative with some crucial module placements, which is how the mech’s elbows ended up housing its reactor and grav drive.

Meanwhile, the ship’s torso is adorned by one of HopeTech’s larger cockpits, while its shoulders look like heavy ordnance, even though they are functionally thrusters. Making matters even more impressive is the fact that the vessel is mostly composed of low-level parts, save for its grav drive, reactor, and weaponry. This ostensibly made it look much more expensive than it is, although its creator did not reveal exactly how much the spacecraft set them back.

Given its imposing presence, this flying mech makes use of the C reactor class to get off the ground, thus not being a feasible project for newcomers to tackle. For clarity, this category of ships requires four levels of investment in the Piloting skill, an ability that many won’t get to max out during their initial playthrough because spacecraft sections are a relatively small part of the overall gameplay experience. That notwithstanding, anyone planning to spend a lot of time inStarfield’sship builderwill likely want to level up Piloting sooner rather than later.

The newly shared mech is far from the only example illustrating the vast creative potential of the game’s shipbuilding mechanics, as underlined by the fact that it was preceded byStarfieldreplicas ofThe Fifth Elementtaxi, Naboo N-1 starfighter fromStar Wars, and a wide array of completely original spacecraft designs. WithStarfieldstill enjoying immense momentum, many more original vessels are likely to surface online in the days ahead.

Starfieldis available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
