The Crimson Fleet is one of the most notorious factions in Bethesda’sStarfield. These feared pirates are known for their ruthlessness and immorality, coupled with lots of firepower. The United Colonies consider them a serious threat to their power, andacross the Settled Systems, characters can frequently be heard exchanging stories and rumors about the mysterious outlaws. SinceStarfieldcontains more factions and missions than any previous Bethesda title, it should come as little surprise that players can join this “evil” faction as well.

Much likethe Dark Brotherhood from theElder Scrollsseries, players will have to commit a crime of their own in order to be considered for admission into the Crimson Fleet. If caught stealing or trying to smuggle contraband into UC territory, players will be taken to UC Vanguard to meet Commander Ikande, who will recruit the player into aspecial infiltration mission. This mission is unique and is not part of the overall United Colonies faction quest-line. Instead, it will unlock the ability to join the Crimson Fleet.

After meeting with Commander Ikande, players will be given the opportunity to take part ina covert spy operation which involves infiltrating the Crimson Fleet. What players decide what they wish to when they’re in, however, is up to them. The first step is to fly to Cydonia on the planet Mars in order to meet with Saoirse Bowden. Bowden will point them in the direction of Adler Kemp, a spy for the fleet working in Cydonia’s “Broken Spear” bar.

Kemp will demand that the players collect a debt from a man named Karl Fielding. This can be done in a variety of ways, or players can even pay off his debt to Kemp themselves.

Once Kemp is satisfied with the payment, he will point players in the direction of Naeva Moira, who is stationed at Europa in her ship, The Astraea. She will then ask players to deal with Austin Rake, a deserter from the Fleet who is aboard a ship named The Ragana. Players can resolve this in a number of ways, and can evenobtain one of the best suits and helmets in the gameif they let the crew of The Ragana fight among themselves.

After returning to The Astraea, players will find them under attack by Ecliptic ships. It is worth repairing en route to this meeting andbeing sure that the ship is ready to fightin advance. Once this fight is complete, players can either head straight to The Key, where they are fully initiated into the Crimson Fleet, or they can choose to report back to the UC Vigilance to deliver their findings to Commander Ikande. Either way, players can still join the Fleet once they head to the Key.

Upon arriving there, players will receive a tour of the impressive facilities on The Key, as well as meeting the boss, Delgado. Delgado will then take the players on their next mission, Echoes of the Past, where they will learn more about the faction and their history in the Settled Systems.
