Stardew Valleyis host to a ton of villagers, most of whom the player is able to befriendand many of whom are romanceable. There are a lot of different reasons why befriending and even romancing these characters can be a good option – they’ll send players gifts when their friendship points are high enough, including some recipes that can only be acquired through friendship, and they have special heart events that can only be accessed after a certain amount of friendship points.
One of these romanceable villagers isShane, considered by many to be a definiteStardew Valleyfan favorite. Shane has an interesting and emotional backstory, but his cool demeanor and his love of chickens are a draw for many players. This guide will help players figure out the best way to reach higher friendship levels and marriage with Shane.

Shane’s Regular Schedule for Every Season
Each villager inStardew Valleyhas a set schedule depending on the day, the season, and the weather that they’ll adhere to. These schedules are relatively easy to follow once they’re memorized, which makes gifting and speaking to them far easier for players. Shane is no different.
Just as each villager has a set schedule, they each have little odditiesthat players should also remember. With Shane, on rainy Saturdays and Sundays when the Community Centre hasn’t been completed, he’ll go work at JojaMart on the far right of the town. He can also be found in the Stardrop Saloon almost every evening, regardless of weather or season. This guide will also specify whether the Community Centre has been completed, as this impacts his schedule slightly.

The Best Gifts for Shane: Likes, Loves, Dislikes, and Hates
Shane is a fan favorite of friendship and marriage speedruns because of how easy it is to access some of his most loved gifts, such as foodand crops, even as an early-game player. If the player wants to gain hearts with him quickly, it shouldn’t be too hard to achieve!
As well as this, it might also be helpful for players to remember that villagers inStardew Valleywill give out a huge boost to friendship points when receiving gifts on their birthdays, especially if the gift they receive is liked or loved. Shane’s birthday is Spring 20, which makes him a very useful candidate forplayers who want to marry early!

Movie Theater: Shane’s Favorites
With the 1.4 update came the inclusion of the Movie Theater toStardew Valley, which allows players to take a villager to see a movie with them in the Joja Mart building. To invite Shane to see a movie, the player must buy a ticket from the Theater for 1,000g and give it to him in the same way the player would give a regular gift. To see a movie with Shane, the player must then go to the Movie Theater on the same day they gave him the ticket.
Shane also prefers different screenings and concession snacks. By taking him to a screening he loves or likes, the player will gain many heart points; by taking him to a screening he dislikes, they will lose heart points. The same goes for the concessions that players can buy for him.

Shane’s Heart Events
InStardew Valley, how close players are to a characteris represented through hearts. When gaining another heart with a character by speaking to them regularly and gifting them things they love or like, the player is rewarded with a heart event. Shane has several heart events, beginning at two and ending at fourteen (which is only achievable after marrying him). Some of these heart events also have prerequisites that the player must achieve before the event can begin.
What Happens After Marrying Shane?
After marrying Shane,he’ll move into the farmhouseto live with the player. He’ll add another room to the far right of the player’s farmhouse, too, featuring a TV to play video games on and a fridge for himself. He’ll also build a little chicken hutch behind the farmhouse where he can be found with his chicken, Charlie. After he moves in, the player can receive gifts from him. These gifts include Eggs, Pepper Poppers, Pizza, Omelets, Pale Ale, and Beer.
Once Shane has been married, his schedule will change quite a bit. He’ll stay on the player’s farm for most of his time, only leaving on Mondays and Fridays. On Mondays, he can be found in Marnie’s ranch in the morning and in Cindersap Forest through the afternoon. On Fridays, he can be found in Pelican Town in the mornings, in Pierre’s General Store in the afternoon, and in the Stardrop Saloon through the evening. If JojaMart is still open, Shane no longer works there.
