Some new rumors swirling around theStar Warsuniverse seem to indicate a number of surprise characters appearing in the upcomingAhsokaseries. Not only that, but they may also finally lend credence to a long-held theory about who will be playing Grand Admiral Thrawn.

After well over a year of speculation regardingThrawn’s potential appearance onAhsoka, yet one more point in its favor has been introduced. A prominent source forStar Warsinfo scoops has recently made the claim that Lars Mikkelsen, who voiced Thrawn onStar Wars Rebels, will return to the character in a live-action capacity alongside Rosario Dawson as the title role on the new series. As a bonus, he will allegedly also be in Thrawn’s iconic white uniform, which should be familiar to anyone who’s been a fan of the character since his Legends days. Though, granted, he did also wear it onRebels.

The claim comes from Christopher Marc. Marc serves as editor-in-chief for movie and TV news site The Ronin, and while he didn’t specify a source for this new info, he does appear to have a reliable source working onAhsoka. “Looks like [Ahsoka] has indeed hired Lars Mikkelsen to play THRAWN in the series and will have his traditional white uniform in the streaming series,” Marc tweeted. But this isn’t the only juicy rumor floating around.

A second claim, also from Marc, alleges thatAhsokawill also feature Zabrak stormtroopers. Many will remember the spike-headed species most notably through the character of Maul, whoappeared inThe Phantom Menacealong with a good chunk of theStar Warsanimated seriesThe Clone WarsandRebels. It’s unclear why this race of warriors, seen prominently in the gameJedi: Fallen Order, ends up working for the Empire, but it will be interesting to learn that particular story.

Finally, in perhaps one of the most exciting possibilities of all depending on who’s being asked, one final rumor from the same source claims that Rex will make his official live-action debut onAhsokaas well. Rex was featured heavily on bothStar Warsanimated seriesThe Clone WarsandRebels, the latter of which saw the grizzled clone trooper join the Rebel Alliance. Marc’s claim in this case also included the caveat that he isn’t sure if Rex will make the final cut for the series. But given how the character of Ahsoka herself has a pretty rich history with Rex, it would feel like a waste not to include him.

Once again, these are all unsubstantiated claims. Marc is a pretty well-respected voice in the business, so there certainly may be something to them. But until an official confirmation comes, it’s best to treat them all like fun speculation.Star Warsfans are used to that, right?
