There is a lot of information to take in during the opening hours ofSoul Hackers 2. As players progress through a fairly long tutorial section, they’ll eventually begin to unlock important game mechanics one by one. After eventually making it to the Mansei Realm area, players will meet an NPC named Tataru (in a building known as the COMP Smith), who will teach them the importance of upgrading their weapons and gear, something that becomes incredibly useful as players start encountering stronger enemies.

Upgrading a weapon does much more than giving it a power boost, it also gives players the ability to unlock Special Effects and other useful passive skills that will make their characters much stronger in specific situations. Unfortunately, upgrading weapons isn’t incredibly straightforward, and those that don’t spend a lot of time in the in-game manual may end up a bit confused by the mass of menus on the screen. The following guide outlines exactly how upgrading a weapon works, as well as what’s required to unlock specific Special Effects and boosters. Here’show to upgrade weapons and special effects inSoul Hackers 2.
How To Upgrade Weapons In Soul Hackers 2
Once players make it to the COMP Smith and unlock the ability to upgrade their gear, they’ll be able to take an in-depth look at each character’s main weapon. They’ll also be able to purchase upgrades. As players progress through the Story and unlock new areas, they’ll begin to receive materials from the Demons and enemies they defeat. Possession of some of these items will unlock specific upgrades that players can apply to their weapons. A great example is ATK+, which shows up commonly across all characters, and acts as a great way for players to increase their outright Physical Damage.
Unlocking these upgrades (by providing the correct Demon materials and Yen) will cause the weapons base Attack to increase, and can be a great way for players to gain additional power.

How To Unlock Special Effects In Soul Hackers 2
In addition to basic upgrades, players will also be able to unlock Special Effects from the COMP Smith, within the same menus. These unlockables do much more than simply increase the base attack of a weapon, and can actually grow a character’s strength and abilities in other ways. By highlighting a skill in the list, players can look to the bottom of the screen to see an explanation of what it will do.
Once players decide on a particular Special Effect, they’ll need to gather the materials required to unlock it. Thankfully, there’s an easy way to see what’s missing, as the required materials will show up in a small sub-menu on the right-hand side of the upgrades list. By moving to this smaller list and highlighting the material in question, players can see information on where it’s located at the bottom of the screen. At the very least, players should be able to see what area the Demon or Material is located in, giving them a better idea of where they should begin looking.

Ringo has access to an array of Special Effects that are different from her counterparts. Due to her role as Commander, Ringo can unlock Passive and Command-based abilities that can help to increase the action count, change Demons mid-battle, extend buffs, and other useful things.
