The Rope is one of the 25essential crafting items inSons of the Forest. But unlike the game’s prequel, The Forest, there’s no way to craft it. In the previous game, Rope was a craftable item that could be made out of cloth. The new game, however, takes a realistic approach, disallowing crafting it. (Yes, that’s a bummer.)
But regardless, this guide helps toget piles of Rope with little to no effort. Remember, Ropes may spawn at random locations. So, be on the lookout for the ones near shores or in forests.

Where to Find Rope in Sons of the Forest
To get Rope,look in the Abandoned Camps, Cannibal Camps, Cave Entrances, Graves, Boats, and the helicopter crash site. Also, walk along the shores for a chance to find jetsam pieces of Rope.
InSons of the Forest, Rope is a respawning item scattered around the map. Players are not guaranteed to loot it from chests. But there’s a good chance they’ll find Rope near campsites and empty tents.

To farm this item, mark a Rope location using the GPS Locator. And revisit the place to grab the respawned pieces. This farming strategy works best for piles of Rope near Cave Entrances.
Unfortunately,Kelvin can’t help with gathering Rope. He’s only able to find berries, fish, sticks, rocks, arrows, radio, or logs.

The Best Location for Farming Rope
Northern parts of theSons of the Forestmap are best for Rope farming. Thanks to the open shores and nearby Abandoned Camps, players are likelier to get the item—without much effort.
In terms of convenience, Cave Entrances are ideal locations for getting Rope. Players do not need to explore the entire cave and can find multiple crafting items at the opening, which is safer than other areas.
If predators are not a concern, gather Rope in Abandoned Camps and Cannibals’ sites. There are roughly 30 Abandoned Camps and 38 Cannibal sites inSons of the Forestthat almost always contain a bunch of Rope piles.
BestSons of the ForestItems to Craft with Rope
Crafting largely depends on Rope. And it’s a vital piece in most early-game recipes. But since the item is rare, it’s best to use it for crafting aRepair Tool,Bone Armor, Crafted Bow,Tree Shelter, and Lookout Tower.
A late-game use of Rope is creating a zipline hanger by combining it with a grappling hook. But that comes later after finding the 3D Printer.
