In open-world gaming, having a companion tag along for the journey can prove to be useful, or at the very least provide some adorable company. Manyvideo games have renowned dog NPCs, such asFallout’s Dogmeat or the canine chum fromFable 2, who accompany the protagonist and provide help. The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimalso has companions, but they are mainly human or human-esque, though a mod for the game now makes it possible for players to have their own loyal German Shepherd.
User Vexcation has uploaded the “Sparky - A Faithful Companion” add-on forSkyrim, allowing fans to employ the help of the adorable puppy. It’s worth pointing out that this is a re-uploaded version of a previous mod from user Sparky201. This latest addition ports it over to the Special Edition ofSkyrim, but it also tweaks some elements as well, such as actually naming the dog Sparky, starting him off at level 20, making it so he doesn’t affect stealth, and also giving him a full backstory.

Sparky is described as wearing Dawnguard armor, and anyone who wishes to have him tag along on adventures will find him in Whiterun, specifically roaming the courtyard ofJorrvaskr where the Companions reside inSkyrim. Given that Sparky is a companion, it makes sense that he would be hanging around this location, and like all other followers, Sparky will offer support during battles. It also looks as though Vexcation may have made him impossible to kill by setting him as an “essential” NPC.
Skyrimcertainly has its fair share of memorable companions, such as Serana or Lydia, but many fans will probably be very interested in having a German Shepherd by their side. Of course, it is also possible for players to have a canine friend in the vanilla game, namely in the guise of the stray that can be saved as the Dragonborn makes their way to Riverwood in the opening section of the story. However, there will be some dog lovers out there who can’t resist the urge to have another optional furry friend.
WithSkyrimbeingone of the most popular open word games right now, despite it being more than ten years old at this point, players may wish to have a companion on their otherwise solo journey. It’s not uncommon for games to feature dogs, and many gamers are more than keen to form a bond with a dog or other animal in what can be quite a lonely experience.
