There are many factors that culminate in the continued popularity ofSkyrim, from its vast and gorgeous open world to its litany of side quests and roster of memorable characters. Of course, many would prefer to move on to the next installment, and whileBethesda is currently working onThe Elder Scrolls 6, it’s impossible to say when it will come out. In the meantime, the 2011 epic RPG is still keeping people entertained, and much of this comes down to the sheer number of mods that extend the game’s life.

Some of these mods incorporate crossovers from different fictional universes altogether. Take “Predators: The Lost Tribe” as an example. As spotted by DSO Gaming, this custom add-on allows players to turn the Dragonborn inSkyriminto one of the Yautja race, the dreadlock-wearing predator creatures from the movies. Complete with a series of weapons, the mod also allows fans to do battle with the Xenomorph aliens, similar to theAvPseries.

The “Predators: The Lost Tribe” mod has been out for some time, but this latest version has been ported over to the Special and Anniversary Editions ofSkyrim. The original was made by a user called roland113, and it was ported by Veenix1998. The fact that it’s now been made it available in other versions of the game shows that the predator is something that many would be interested in playing as while roaming Tamriel.

The originalPredatoris an iconic sci-fi film from the 1980s, containing some of the most quotable movie lines from that era. For many fans, subsequent entries have yet to really match the status of the first one, but the titular hunter is still going strong. The description says there are three different types of Yautja, with appropriate armor and weapons scattered in different locations.

Skyrimhas a ton of interesting mods, many of which either add new content, implement a graphical overhaul, tweak the mechanics, or just fix some of the bugs. For anyone who’s coming into the game for the first time, it can be overwhelming to see the number of fan-made add-ons that exist, but it’s possibly one of the reasons the game is still as popular today as it was 11 years ago.

Skyrimis also popular on the Steam Deck, which sort of makes sense seeing as the Valve device is essentially a mobile PC. There’s no telling whenThe Elder Scrolls 6will be coming out, especially with the developer currently putting focus onStarfield, but hopefully Bethesda will make some sort of announcement soon.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
