The gift box resembles a chest with a massive keyhole in the middle that requires a matching lockpick and prybar to simulate the Lockpicking mini-game. While there are locks inSkyrimthat require keys like most real-world locks, this mini-game becomes a frequent occurrence for anyone who plays the game enough. The video shows someone twisting the lockpick and prybar into different positions, eventually hitting the sweet spot that opens the chest to reveal a replica oftheSkyrimMeridia’s Beacon.
How Was This Gift Box Created?
According to Mrspartacus575, the Bethesda-inspired gift box was 3D printed with a lock mechanism that shares the characteristics of the in-game ones. The lockpick cannot be adjusted without resetting the prybar, and they both have to be in the exact right position for the chest to open. While this box shares many similarities withtheSkyrimLockpicking mini-game, the gamer was unable to replicate the experience of breaking a Lockpick in a failed attempt to open it.
Although many locksmiths can still pick a wide variety of locks in real life, this mini-game won’t work on any modern mechanisms.
