The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis a popular action role-playing game and millions of fans love diving into the fantasy world as the Dragonborn, exploring Skyrim’s mysteries, meeting interesting characters, and going on various quests. The world ofSkyrimis robust and vibrant with a plethora of things for players to immerse themselves in and really delve into the fantasy landscape as organically as possible.
Within the vast world ofSkyrim,there arecities full of characters and NPCsthat go about their business as usual while the player goes on the main quest, which makes the world feel even more alive. Most of the time, these NPCs, monsters, and other characters live seemingly regular lives and carry out mundane tasks - but occasionally, that changes.

Redditor TheNerdKing8 posted a clip of a Whiterun Guard getting absolutely annihilated by a Dragon just when he is about to arrest the Dragonborn for their crimes as a wanted man.Skyrim’s guards' poor arresting habitsare legendary, but this pitiful guard seems to have more bad luck than any of his fellow soldiers. Before the guard can go through with the arrest, or even before the player can choose a talking option, a Dragon swoops down, roaring mightily, and snatches the guard up in its claws. The dragon then proceeds to drop the guard hundreds of feet below to his death.
This is no fault of the guard, however.Whiterun’s guards can handle dragons, as they have proved many times in the past. However,Skyrim’s different AI and NPC systems are complex and can sometimes intersect in just the right ways to get results like the above clip. There are many different choice points and flow chart moments happening at just the right times for a guard to be arresting the Dragonborn while simultaneously being targeted by the AI of a dragon overhead.
The other thought is that this may be a glitch of some kind, but it isn’t. Glitches and bugs in games are when the systems do not work properly or something doesn’t load in at the right time or in the right places.Skyrimis no stranger to glitchesand has its fair share of moments in which the systems behind the game don’t work properly. However, in this situation, it is mere coincidence that two seemingly opposite things are happening at the same time.
Skyrimis a fan favorite game and has been for the last eleven years. It continues to provide players with engaging and interesting experiences, as well as some that they never see coming.
