A school issued a warning against Prime, the energy drink made byYouTubepersonalities Logan Paul and KSI, after a student reportedly suffered a cardiac episode after drinking it. The product was released in January 2022, and quickly earned massive success thanks to the YouTubers' fans, evencausing fights among shoppers in the UK.
So far, Paul and KSI have taken Prime to new heights as it becamethe UFC’s official drink, and got its own Super Bowl ad spot. However, it’s success also came with several challenges, such as many nutritionists warning parents to not let their kids consume the product because of its high caffeine content.

It seems like the concerns were valid because a student from Milton Primary School in Newport, Wales reportedly suffered a cardiac episode and had to have their stomach pumped after drinking Prime. In a text sent to parents, the school reminded them of the drink’s potentially harmful effects to children. Fortunately, the student was said to be okay after being taken to the hospital. As of writing, neither Prime nor theYouTubecreators have released a statement addressing the matter.
According to Prime’s FAQs, it claims that only Prime Energy has caffeine, measuring at a whopping 200mg. In the UK, the caffeine level was lowered to 140mg, but it’s still considered way too high if it’s consumed by young children. Likewise, Prime emphasized that the drinks aren’t suitable for people below 18 years old, pregnant women, nursing moms, and people who are sensitive to caffeine.
However, based on many social media posts, it seems like many kids and teenagers have been asking their parents to buy Prime for them. Aside from the fact that it’s owned by Paul and KSI, whom they probably saw on YouTube, Prime’s vibrant colors might be catching their eye as well, so much that many of its variants have been sold out on the official website andresold by scalpers. Because a lot of people seem to love the drink, young, impressionable viewers might also want to join the trend to appear “cool.”
Despite many concerns about Prime energy drink, both Paul and KSI don’t seem fazed by the criticism. In fact, Paul revealed that hemade $250 million in Prime retail salesas of February this year. It may be a controversial drink, but it might not be going anywhere anytime soon. What they might expect, though, are parents all over the world hounding them to stop kids from trying the product.
