One cheap and easy way that players defend themselves is throughusing the easy to craftHunting Bow or Compound Bow which can help a survivor pick off threats from a distance without much fear. There is a variety of arrows that can be used with these weapons that can increase how useful the bow is in combat. Although it will never be as good as the guns available it is still important to knowhow to craft arrows for the bows.

Wooden Arrow

Starting with the basic Wooden Arrow, players are most likely to be using this for their bows to begin with, especially because of how simple it is to craft. It is compatible with the Hunting Bow, Compound Bow, and the Crossbow making it incredibly versatile for all three weapons. Players will likely be using this sort of ammunition before crafting a workbench as it isn’t required to create this ammunition. It also has an incredibly short crafting time that willsupply a player with two arrowsonce completed.

Although this arrow can be crafted, they can also be found in a variety of crates scattered across the map ofRustmeaning players may not even need to waste resources to have this rather inexpensive but vital ammo type. Due to how cheap they are, Wooden Arrows are one of the few items that players shouldn’t bother recycling as they give back hardly any resources back. Therefore, players should just use their wooden arrows first before switching to a different arrow type.

Resources Needed To Craft

High Velocity Arrow

Requiring a tier one Workbench to craft, players may decide to move on to the High Velocity Arrow, also known as the HV Arrow, as their next ammunition for their bow. Although the HV arrow actually does less than a wooden one. Players will commonly move to this ammo for its increase range and speed capabilities making it a great choice for further distances as well as quicker battles that a player may face.

Apart from needing a workbench to craft, the HV Arrow alsoswaps the resource of stonefor metal fragments. Although this isn’t exactly an expensive resource many players may feel that this isn’t a fair trade-off and wish to put their metal fragments into more defensive means. They only take a short amount of time to craft andyield two arrows a time. This doesn’t stop the High Velocity Arrow being one of the least used ammunition types, especially as it can’t be found anywhere in-game naturally.

Bone Arrow

Taking a step back from requiring a Workbench, the Bone Arrow is by far one of the best arrow types in the entirety ofRust. Firstly, the cost of crafting such an arrow is even cheaper than a wooden one as its crafting requirement of stone has been replaced with bone fragments. This means that stone can return to its vital role ofbeing used to construct basesthat won’t go up in flames, which is an essential step for beginners if they hope to survive.

Although Bone Arrows also hit for less damage than a wooden one, players are far more likely to hit their mark with them and therefore make up for that damage that has been lost. This makes Bone Arrows another great choice forplayers starting outwho don’t have as much confidence when it comes to aiming at their foes and therefore aren’t wasting vital resources that they may need in the future.

Fire Arrow

Players that enjoy Player Vs Player combat are sure to want to invest in Fire Arrows for their destructive capability. They are incredibly expensive to craft as they first require a player to have unlocked the tier one Workbench along withusing a lot of scarpsin the tech tree to unlock the capability of using the Fire Arrow recipe. Not only this but it does demand a fair amount of low grade fuel which players may struggle to get their hands on early in the game.

Pushing these set-backs aside, players that can equip themselves with Fire Arrows are sure to enjoy their buffs. These arrows are incredibly helpful against enemies that arewearing metal armorwhen compared to wooden or HV arrows, they also have the chance to set a foe on fire, dealing an extra amount of damage to them. Although the range on using these arrows is lackluster, the area of effect to burn makes Fire Arrows a great part of the artillery when raiding other bases as it can easily burn through wooden doors or tool cupboards.
