For many gaming fans, a showcase is the event that will lead to a large generation of hype. New titles are revealed, existing games are shown new content, and there’s usually something to excite everyone at a given display of the gaming industry’s immediate future. With E3 not happening this year, a lot of gamers are looking to the platform owners and other large companies to deliver some big announcements. So far, it seems like theXbox and Bethesda showcasewill have a few interesting games to look forward to, but now it seems aNintendoshow may also be on the way.

This report comes from Emily Rogers, the person who leaked a lot of information about the Nintendo Switch and has been known to be a fairly reliable leaker. In a forum post, she asked whether there were any fans of indie games. While this may seem like an unrelated post aboutNintendoand indie games, the last time Rogers spoke about an Indie World showcase in December, it was announced shortly after.

This has led some to believe that there will be aNintendo Indie World showcasesometime soon, perhaps even this week. As mentioned, the last time Nintendo hosted an indie showcase was in December 2021, and it featured some interesting announcements, such asEndling: Extinction is ForeverandOMORI. Notably though,Hollow Knight: Silksong, the sequel to the 2017 hit,did not appear at Nintendo’s December showcase.

This led fans to speculate whether it will appear at a new showcase. Some are holding out hope that the game currently without a release date will show itself off soon, while others think that an Indie World showcase would be too small of an event forHollow Knight: Silksongnow, and that the game needs its own dedicated show. The majority ofHollow Knightfans are hoping either way that2022 will finally beSilksong’syear.

At the time of writing, the rumor of a new Nintendo Indie World showcase remains unconfirmed. However, Nintendo currently doesn’t have any major shows lined up for summer 2022. While some games likeMario Strikers: Battle LeagueandSplatoon 3have recently seen new gameplayand trailers, these reveals seem like they should fit into a Nintendo Direct. Nintendo fans are usually good at spotting when a Direct or showcase is likely on the way, meaning that whether the platform owner shows off indie games or its AAA titles, the fans could have a leak before the official announcement.
