One of thebiggest announcements at this year’s BlizzConwas the reveal ofDiablo 4, the much anticipated newest installment to the action role-playing dungeon crawler series. Since then, fans have been wondering when the game will actually be released.
According to an old rumor, not only has the release date forDiablo 4been leaked, but also the release of a beta. Normally, a rumor like this would be brushed off, but this was the same rumor that claimedDiablo 4was going to be announced at BlizzCon this year, so it does have some legitimacy.

Apparently, the beta forDiablo 4will be coming out sometime next year. The rumor doesn’t specify which platforms this beta will be available on, but it’s assumed that it will be on each of the platforms the game’s already been announced for (PS4, Xbox One and PC). According to the rumor, the beta will be quite a while ahead of the full game’s release, which should be sometime in 2021. This seems to line up withBlizzard’s announcement, as its confirmed the game wouldn’t be releasing anytime soon.
The rumor is filled with all sorts of other leaked details Blizzard has yet to confirm, such as Amazon and Paladin being the other two classes available at launch, with the Necromancer coming in at a later date. Beyond this, the details get a little more mundane, like how crafting will be coming back toDiablo 4, how the skill system will be heavily influenced by games likePath of ExileandGrim Dawn, and details concerning howDiablo 4will have microtransactions.Still, it should be noted that this is all just a rumor coming from an anonymous and unverified source. Just because they happened to be right aboutDiablo 4’s announcement at BlizzCon doesn’t necessarily mean they really do work behind the scenes at Blizzard.
After more than seven years sinceDiablo 3’s release, though, there are plenty of fans ready to eat up whatever little morsel of information they can find about the upcoming sequel. It’s already been confirmed by Blizzard that the game will see the return ofLilith, the daughter of Mephisto, and while it’s confirmed this will happen on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, this rumor also indicates that it will be playable on PS4 and Xbox Project Scarlett.
Diablo 4is currently in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
