Rogue Legacy 2 boss lore is found throughout their biome

Rogue Legacy 2, the sequel toCellar Door Games' 2013 smash hit, which helped pioneer the era of procedurally-generated dungeon crawlers, is no different in this regard. Brimming with secrets just begging to be discovered, there are a ton of hidden details that more casual players will never be aware of. Some are simply fun collectibles, while others will influence how the game itself comes to a close.

7A Damage Boost For Every Boss That Persists Across Generations

Every biome inRogue Legacy 2has its own boss, and every boss has its own set of lore. As players explore each biome, pieces of that lore will be randomly generated for them to find.

Finding enough of that lore will unlock a clue that will lead players to a secret location in its associated biome. Some locations are easier to find than others, but once they’re discovered, an item will appear in the area that grants a 15% damage boost against that biome’s boss. Once acquired, that damage boost willpersist across generations of characters, and even into New Game+.

6Find The Tower Of Lights

One of those damage boosts is found in a room hidden within an already secret location called the Tower Of Lights…becauseRogue Legacy 2is just cruel like that.

After finding a room in Citadel Agartha with lanterns ascending out of sight, players can(carefully) jump up these lanternsinto an area above. A crack in the left wall is hidden between the fifth and sixth lanterns on this route. Using a spell or class skill on that wall will reveal an opening that the player can pass through, granting them access to the Tower of Lights. At the top of the Tower, which requires some tricky platforming to reach, is the damage boost associated with the boss of the Citadel Agartha biome, Estuary Lamech.

Rogue Legacy 2 Easter Eggplants are found all across the game world

5Track Down The Four Easter Eggplants

The cheekily-named Easter Eggplants are four NPCs found scattered throughoutRogue Legacy 2. While they don’t grant any bonuses, at least froma gameplay or lore perspective, they do provide the player with a little firework show when they are found.

The Eastern Eggplants are found in all corners ofRogue Legacy 2’sworld. One is found in the tutorial area, one in the Challenge Arena, one in the Kerguelen Plateau, and one just before the boss of the Sun Tower. Finding all four will reward the player with the Full House Achievement on top of the previously mentioned fireworks display.

4Locate The Hidden Memory

In the Tutorial area, there will be an extended section where the player will use orange portals which transport them through obstacles by way of a narrow pipe. One of these portals will deposit the player midway up a large tower.

The first impression (and indeed the way to progress through the area) will be that players should ascend the tower. However, jumping down instead will reveal another platform hidden below. Using a spell on the crack in the wall next to this platform will grant access to a hidden room that contains the Hidden Memory. Finding this memory is essential for unlocking the Hidden Betrayal Achievement.

3Unlock The Scars Of Erebus Challenge Mode

The Scars Of Erebus is a set of challenges inRogue Legacy 2unlocked when players defeat the first boss. This unlocks the Drift House in the main village, which players can access to start the process of finding all the Scars.

The first two Scars can be found immediately, as they are both inside the Drift House; one is given automatically, and the other can be found through the fireplace in the next room. All the others will need to be discovered through exploring the game’s various biomes. Some of these Scars lead to optional bosses, but all of themprovide an increased challengefrom what is found in the rest of the game.

2How To Use The Mysterious Key

After beatingRogue Legacy 2and entering New Game+, players will be able to encounter bosses in their Prime forms. Every tier of NG+ will unlock another Prime boss, accessed through “Burdens” which can be turned on at the start of a run, so players will need to invest several runs of the full game just to unlock this item.

Rogue Legacy 2 the mysterious key unlocks this door in the tutorial area

After beating the final boss in their Prime form and returning to speak with a previous boss character named Jonah, players will receive an item called the Mysterious Key, with no explanation for what it is used for. Returning to the tutorial area, climbing the tall tower, and jumping to the snowy ledge beside it will reveal a hidden campsite. Just below this campsite is a secret path which leads to a door. Behind it is a quick descent and then another door, one which is unlocked with the Mysterious Key. Behind it is a ton of lore and the final Scar of Erebus challenge.

1Unlock The Secret “True” Ending

Knowing where to use the Mysterious Key is essential for players attempting to reach the True Ending ofRogue Legacy 2. After opening that locked door in the tutorial area, players will need to complete one more run of the game.

However, it will be their hardest run yet. Reaching the True Ending requires turning on the Burdens for all 8 Prime Bosses and defeating them. If players canaccomplish that feat, and have opened the Mysterious Key door and picked up all the lore within beforehand, then after defeating Prime Cain they will witness the game’s final “True” ending, and earn themselves some serious bragging rights in the process.
