After anApex Legendsglitch that caused players to lose RP unexpectedly, Respawn Entertainment gave users a peace offering in the form of a free pack to affected gamers. The issue started whenApex Legendsusers noticedthey were getting kicked out of matches with no warning and no reason they could control.
The bug matchedApex Legendsplayers with teammates who were ranked either relatively a bit higher or quite a bit lower. Once the round started, the game kicked them out precisely because they played with users who were nowhere near the same rank. Despite no evidence of cheating or unruly behavior, they were still punished.

Despite theApex Legendsplayershaving no say in who they were being matched with, getting kicked out of the round meant they lost RP. When it comes to ranked players in the game, losing even a little RP can make a very big difference in who they played with and who they played against the next time they booted up a match. Soon, stories from various gamers talked about how many points they lost after being kicked.
One user claimed he lost 96 RP when he entered a Diamond game, was matched up with a Gold player, and then waskicked out of theApex Legendsmatchshortly after it started. According to the player, the loss of RP was bad enough, but then Respawn added a little insult to the injury. He was also penalized with a 10-minute matchmaking delay. His wait before he could get into another match was long enough that the user could post a video online.
Not longafter theApex Legendsbugstarted becoming more prevalent, Respawn Entertainment took note and took action. The company put in a hotfix that took care of the matching problems before it affected a larger swath of players and offered a gift to try and make up for those who were unfairly penalized.
However, the apology gift Respawn dished out to thoseaffected by theApex Legendsbugwasn’t the one many were looking for when they first saw the announcement. While they hoped to have the penalties wiped out, Community Manager Ryan Rigney explained they didn’t have records specific enough to give back the lost RP. Instead, they granted one free Apex Pack to all those who were affected. Rigney added they had an exact count of those affected, totaling 3,614 users.
Apex Legendsis free-to-play on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version coming in 2021.
