Since its release in December 2015,Rainbow Six Siegehas gone seven years without crossplay and cross-progression for those playing on consoles. However, this is finally set to change in a matter of days, with Ubisoft set to soon bring cross-progression and crossplay toRainbow Six Siegeconsoles.

Crossplay and cross-progression betweenRainbow Six Siegeplayers on PC, Stadia, and Luna platforms was enabled in June 2021, with Ubisoft initially shooting to add Xbox and PlayStation users to this list by early 2022. Despite delays extending this deadline by a considerable amount, Ubisoft has finally given players an ultimatum for when console players will be able to login to their account across platforms and team up with friends across an array of console devices. This good news comes mere months afterRainbow Six Siegewas finally brought to mobile.

This date, as shown in theRainbow Six SiegeYear 7 Season 4 reveal, is July 09, 2025.Rainbow Six Siegehas needed crossplay for a long time, and from this date console players will finally be able to play alongside console users on other platforms, voice chat included. Not only this, but user account data will also now be moved to the cloud, meaning console players can playRainbow Six Siegeon a range of devices such as the Xbox One and Playstation 5, all using the same account.

This is a big step forward in makingRainbow Six Siegemore accessible to console players, though it should still be noted that intentional matchmaking restraints have separated console players and PC/Luna users into two different pools due to the entirely different levels of difficulty associated with the two styles of play. Alongside these changes to cross-progression and crossplay for console users, year 7, season 4 ofRainbow Six Siegealso introduces a new Operator and map, alongside revamps to the battle pass, anti-cheat, and ranked system.Rainbow Six Siegewill also look to discourage intentional trollingby the means of a new reputation system.

With so many changes planned, it is evident Ubisoft ends to aim the seventh year ofRainbow Six Siege in spectacular fashion. The prospect of cross-progression and crossplay for consoles is particularly enticing, and will be sure to draw a lot of players back into the game, if the recently announced crossoverbringingNieR ReplicanttoRainbow Six Siegewasn’t enough already.

Rainbow Six Siegeis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
