Burger King launched aCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2-themed restaurant, as well as a limited-edition meal packed with both food and in-game goodies alike. While the restaurant itself is a one-of-a-kind location in Puerto Rico, the newCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2meal will be served by Burger King joints in dozens of countries across the globe.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is scheduled to officially hit PC and consoles this Friday. That said, fans who pre-ordered the game on PC have been able to access its single-player campaign since last week. Besides its standard menu, the restaurant is also serving a limited-edition meal that comes with a code which players can redeem to net a free operator skin sporting a “Burger Town” logo and up to two hours' worth of double XP inModern Warfare 2multiplayer modes. As for its edible contents, the offering seems to be a rebranded variant of a Burger King staple, the Whopper Meal.
Activision Blizzard Chief Marketing Officer, Fernando Machado, took to LinkedIn to confirm that the meal won’t be limited to the Puerto Rican restaurant, but will instead be offered by Burger King franchises in over 35 countries. This cross-promotional campaign is currently most widespread in Europe and doesn’t encompass the continental U.S. The easiest way to check whether theModern Warfare 2-themed meal is available in one’s immediate vicinity is to visit a local Burger King site and check its lists of ongoing promotions.
The move is in line with the fast food giant’s growing focus on gaming team-ups. In the last couple of years alone,Burger King participated in the PS5 launch campaign, collaborated with Nintendo onSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Furypromotions, and even dabbled in anime by opening aSpy x Family-themed restaurant in Tokyo.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 28.
