There are numerous occasions on which players are given a choice of how to respond to NPCs inPokemon Scarlet & Violet, with the vast majority having no real effect on the main story. However, asPokemonplayers take the final few steps on their path to becoming Champion, they’ll be interviewed by one of the Elite Four and will need to answer all of the questions correctly to avoid failing the Champion Assessment.

Some of the ten questions that Rika asks during the Victory Road Champion Assessment have multiple correct answers, but the majority do not. The correct answers to some of the questions are tied to players' previous answers, so it pays to remember which answers have been chosen. Answering a question with the wrong answer will lead to players failing the assessment and having to start from the very beginning, so it’s important forPokemon Scarlet & Violetplayers to understand the best answers to Rika’s questions if they’re hoping to pass the Champion Assessment on the first time of asking.
- How did you get here today?

Please tell me the name of the school you are enrolled in.
So what brings you to the Pokemon League today?

- Now, what do you intend to do if and when you do become a Champion?
Though all three answers to question four are correct, players should remember which one they choose.
Tell me: Which of the 8 Gyms gave you the most difficulty?
And what was the name of the Gym Leader you faced there?
But do you remember which type of Pokemon the Gym Leader used?
What was the category of the first Pokemon you chose to be your partner?
Remind me, what do you intend to do if and when you do become a Champion?
Do you like Pokemon?
What Happens if You Fail the Champion’s Assessment?
If players answer any of Rika’s questions incorrectly, they’ll fail the assessment and be asked to leave. However, they’ll be able to retake the assessment as many times as they like until they pass it, so there are no long-term repercussions for failing. In fact, the only incentive for passing the first time (other than the time saved by doing so, of course) is a unique line of dialogue in which Rika points out that players passed on their first try and are the first person to have done so since Nemona.
Gym Leaders and Types
Given that three of the ten questions in the Victory Road Champion Assessment are centered aroundthe leader of each gymand the Pokemon that they use, some players may benefit from a little refresher. The below table lists every gym, as well as the leader and the type of Pokemon that they specialize in. It doesn’t matter which gym players choose when answering question five, but the Gym Leader and type that they choose in questions six and seven respectively will need to match if they’re to avoid failure.
