Ash Ketchum was the first protagonist of the anime, and the ten-year-oldPokemontrainer held that title for twenty-five years. Although Ash never aged in the show, he did mature and get better as a trainer. Starting out as an immature boy who knew nothing about thePokemonworld in the Kanto region, Ash steadily grew tobecome a great trainer. He won the title of Orange League champion, won the Alola League, and even managed to achieve his goal of becoming aPokemonmaster by winning the Masters Championship in the end.
However, all the battles in the anime are written for the purpose of drama and have no bearing on the team assembled or the ability of the trainer. That is enough to make many fans wonder how many of the mainPokemongames would Ash actually defeat to become champion.

EveryPokemonfan remembers when Ash lost to Ritchie in the Indigo League series. However, the League works differently in the video games. Instead of having a series of knock-out rounds, the games only feature four strong trainers and the final champion of the region. Also, players are allowed to use a full team of six instead of just three.
Now, with the team that Ash uses in the anime, it seems impossible that Ash Ketchum would even get past the first Elite Four member, Lorelai. Even super-effective moves from his Bulbasaur won’t be enough to take down her powerful Lapras. However, if Ash had the sense toevolve hisPokemonin this region,he may stand a chance. With a team of fully evolved starters, a Muk, Tauros, Pidgeot, and Kingler, he has enough power and variety to get through to the end. Blastoise or Kingler would make easy work of Lance’s dragon types with the use of an Ice Beam.

By the time Ash had reached the Pokemon League in the Johto region, he had assembled a much stronger team. He even managed to beat his old rival, Gary, in this tournament, but was unfortunately knocked out by a Hoenn trainer with a very powerful Blaziken. With that said the protagonist from Pallet Town is not going to have to face such challenges when taking on the Elite Four from the games.
This new Elite Four includes Koga, who has several bug types that are easy to beat, and Bruno, a Fighting-type trainer with two Onixs. Many fans of the game often complainthat this Elite Fouris too easy, and it appears that it will not pose a problem for Ash with his Snorlax, Bayleaf, Heracross, and Tauros by his side. Even his powerful Charizard is listening to him by this point, so that won’t be a drawback. Ash probably wouldn’t go on to defeat Red in the post-game, but this Pokemon League title is definitely his.

It would be a while before Ash receives another league victory in thePokemongames, as there is little chance that he could beat Stephen Stone in Hoenn or Cynthia in Sinnoh. However, Ash has a slight chance of taking on the Unova League in the fifth generation.
It appears that his Pikachu resets to an early level in this anime, as it loses to a level 5 Snivy quite early on. Yet, Ash has finally gotten used to the idea of evolving his team members by this point in his journey. If he did go ahead and evolve his Pikachu later on, he would have a few fully evolved Pokemon to take to the league, including Unfeazant, Krookadile, Leavanny, and Charizard. With the Elite Four in Unova only having four Pokemon each, it seems this team could take him far in this region.

When it came time for Ash to fight in the Kalos Pokemon League, most fans were expecting him to take home the trophy this time around. Ash had the strongest team of Pokemon he has had in years, which included Pikachu, Hawlucha, Talonflame, Goodra, and Greninja. Plus, a lot of fans found that the sixth generation of games was a bit easier than the older ones. Therefore, Ash should have walked through this tournament in the anime, right?
Sadly, Ash was defeated by the champion of this region, Alain. However, this was done for dramatic purposes, and Ash would have an easier time in the games. Alain’s heavy reliance on steel types would give the edge to Ash if he chose to bring both Talonflame and Charizard.

After Ash’s solid win in the Alola Pokemon League, he was goinginto the Galar Championships with another strong and varied team. Finally, Ash had some serious power on his side with Lucario, Gengar, Dragonite, Sirfetch’d, and Dracovish Sadly, Ash did not compete in this league. Instead, the anime focused on his entry in the Pokemon World Championships alongside the champion of the Galar region, Leon.
Since Ash beats Leon to become the victor in this tournament, it seems clear that he would also be able to achieve victory in the same way in his own league.

It is quite difficult to determine how well Ash would perform in the PaldeanPokemonLeague, seeing as how he never reached this region in the anime. Therefore, there is no way to tell what type of Pokemon team the trainer would assemble for this league.
However, Ash was a seasoned trainer by this point in his career. Plus, he has a solid line of Pokemon from previous regions that he could use to his advantage. In terms of the members of the Paldea Pokemon League, Larry is an all-flying type trainer that Ash’s ace, Pikachu, can handle on his own, and many fans have calledGeeta the easiest champion in the series so far.The only trouble Ash would have in Paldea is heading straight to the eighth gym first and getting humbled. After that setback, Ash could easily become the champion in this region.
