Summary
A talentedPokemonfan artist is sharing their design for a Rock-type Eeveelution. Eevee is a unique Pokemon within the franchise as it changes its type depending on what it evolves into. ThePokemonfranchise has already provided fans with a Dark, Electric, Fairy, Fire, Grass, Ice, Psychic, and Electric-type Eeveelution, but creative artists often like to imagine what Eevee would look like if it evolved into a creature with one of the remaining 10 typings.
Eeveelutions, a term used to refer to Eevee’s various evolutions, often rank highly among the most popular Pokemon. In fact, several Eeveelutions landed in the top10 most-searched Pokemonlast year. Unfortunately for fans of the versatile creature, Eevee hasn’t seen a new evolution since sixth-generation gamesPokemon X and Y. Still, that hasn’t quelled fans' enthusiasm and desire to imagine new iterations of the popular Pokemon.

Reddit user harmonia_region shared their Rock-type Eeveelution with the community as part of an ongoing fan art series. One of the artist’s latest creations is Phareon, a Rock-type Pokemon inspired by Egyptian history and myths. Phareon takes design notes from the Great Sphinx as well as pharaoh headdresses, or nemes.
As with the artist’s recentDracula-inspired Eeveelution, Phareon is a Pokemon that works on multiple levels. Obviously, the name is also a play on the word “pharaoh,” while also adhering to the established naming conventions of the other Eeveelutions. Also, Rock is the perfect type for Phareon as the Great Sphinx is made of stone.
Again, it’s been a decade since the last Eeveelution was introduced. Before this lull, Eevee would receive a new evolution or two every couple of generations or so. It hasn’t happened enough for there to be an established pattern, but each new game still has fans speculatingwhat the next Eeveelution could be. The Pokemon Company has yet to design a Bug, Dragon, Fighting, Flying, Ghost, Ground, Poison, Rock, or Steel-type evolution for Eevee. It would even be interesting to see Eevee maintain its Normal-typing for a potential evolution as well.
As Eevee and its evolutions stand as some of the most popular Pokemon in the franchise, fans are always creating new versions of Eeveelutions. Even theDetective Pikachuconcept artist designed various new Eeveelutions. Because there is such a universal understanding as to what an Eevee evolution looks like thanks to all the official iterations, the fan designs are fun for both artists and observers.Pokemonfan artists get to flex some creative muscles, and admirers can get a glimpse into the creative process.
