Summary

APokemonfan has shared their concept for what Sableye and its Mega Evolution would look like if they were humans. The two creations take cues from the originalPokemonseries design, as well as an unexpected nod to Lara Croft ofTomb Raider.

Pokemon as humans are a popular subject for fan art. With few instances of Pokemon becoming human or disguising themselves as one in the series, creative players have stepped in. Thegijinka fan artgives gamers an idea of what could be, even if the games never include Pokemon becoming people.

Pokemonfan artist endifi is back at it with anotherhumanoid take on Pokemon, this time focusing on Sableye and Mega Sableye. The artist says they were inspired by the games and thought of making the Pokemon like Lara Croft, due to her interest in archaeology. With Sableye’s fondness for gems, endifi thought that it would be a good mash-up, resulting in a feminine human Sableye. Endifi describes them as being interested in researching gems, while still maintaining a fondness for eating the rocks afterward. The human version of the Pokemon features glasses that look like the original Sableye gem-eyes, and she wears a toothy mask reflecting the Pokemon’s original look.

Their Mega form also follows the same basic design aesthetic, with endifi specifically basing the look off of Lara Croft’sTomb Raider 5catsuit. Instead of a single large gem protecting her, the gem has taken on a more energy shield-like appearance, loosely based uponTron. Interestingly, while her mask changes to match MegaSableye’s red eyes, she still has a gem on her chest, so it seems like the human version of the Pokemon doesn’t shield themselves the same way as the original creature.

Pokemon Fans Create What Game Freak Probably Won’t

Part of the joy of fan art is that it can make things that aren’t part of reality, and the same is true ofPokemonworks. In addition to the gijinka-style artwork,Pokemonfans also enjoy giving alternate forms or Mega Evolutions to Pokemon who lack them. Another popular form isPokemonfusion fan art, which takes two or more Pokemon and combines them into a single creature. While some of these are a bit literal, with onePokemonfan art adding a new Pokemon into a large chimera-like being, others imagine a more realistic take on what would happen if two Pokemon were combined. In any case, fan art like this continues to show the creative minds of thePokemonfandom.
