Pokemon Brilliant DiamondandPokemon Shining Pearllaunch in just over a week, deliveringPokemonfans a double dose of nostalgia modernized for a new audience. But as beloved as 15-year-oldPokemongames are, thePokemonfranchise has changed dramatically since their release. That’s why The Pokemon Company isn’t just remakingPokemon DiamondandPokemon Pearl, but also adding ways for players to collect Mythical Pokemon Mew and Jirachi, and Legendary Pokemon, too.

Regarding Mythical Pokemon Mew and Jirachi, The Pokemon Company is making both easily accessible to allPokemon Brilliant DiamondandPokemon Shining Pearlplayers. Mew is tied toPokemon Let’s Go PikachuandPokemon Let’s Go Eeveesave data, while Jirachi is tied toPokemon SwordandPokemon Shieldsave data.DiamondandPearlplayers with the correct save data can visit an older woman found in the southwest of Floarama Town to acquire Mew, or an older man at the same flowery location to get Jirachi. Both are free, but can only be acquired once.

As for the Legendary Pokemon, the process is quite a bit more complicated. Players will be able to encounter Legendary Pokemon in the new Ramanas Park endgame area. It’s an entirely new part ofPokemon Brilliant DiamondandPokemon Shining Pearl, unlocking only when players reach the Hall of Fame. Ramanas Park letsPokemonplayers encounter and potentially catchLegendary Pokemonthat would otherwise be unavailable in these classicPokemongames.

After unlocking Ramanas Park,Pokemontrainerswill be able to use a new item called a “Slate.” Slates can be hidden throughout the entire region of each game, so summoning a Legendary Pokemon will be no simple matter. It may well be worth the effort, however, to have a Legendary Pokemon be a part of the team. Once found, a Slate can be taken into Ramanas Park and used on what looks like a unique summoning pedestal, each found within a cave, lab, or other indoor location.

The next limitation, and likely the most frustrating, is that certain Legendary Pokemon are restricted to eitherBrilliant DiamondorShining Pearl.Diamond’s exclusives include Ho-Oh, Raikou, Entei, and Suicine.Pearl’s exclusives include Lugia, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. Trading will assumedly be available to earn Legendary Pokemon from the opposite game. Players will have to discover the exact process on their own oncePokemon Brilliant DiamondandPokemon Shining Pearlofficially launch.

Access to these Mythical and Legendary Pokemon should prove a valuable addition toPokemon Brilliant DiamondandPokemon Shining Pearl.Pokemonplayerswill be able to collect some of the most excitingPokemonin the franchise, which would otherwise be unavailable without these promotions and new features. Pokemon collectors are likely already anxious to start trying to collect them all.
