Overall, it’s safe to say that the co-op heist shooterPayday 3did not have a good launch. Not only are players currently experiencing several issues during matchmaking and mid-heist disconnections, butPayday 3didn’t get very good scores on reviews, either. At the time of writing, the game review scores were at 70 or lower on Metacritic. The title has also been heavily criticized due to its lackluster AI, stiff character movement, and crashes, which are getting in the way of a decent player experience.

Now, Starbreeze’s CEO Tobias Sjogren has apologized to players on behalf of the developers. According to him, the online infrastructure ofPayday 3didn’t hold up as well as the team expected, which is why people are seeing so many issues so soon after the launch. Sjogren also affirmed that the team is working tirelessly to solve the issues, though, and implied that everything will be running smoothly soon.
Payday 3is currently filled with technical problems, but the major issue that gamers are facing right now is that matchmaking inPayday 3is simply not working for many people across all platforms. Also, the only way to play the heist-based shooter is to be constantly online, and players need to create and use a Nebula account to play, which has frustrated several gamers. Apart from these issues, there are also cases of gamers who are disconnected during heists, losing their progress in the missions.
While the issues with multiplayer are not yet fixed,Payday 3gamers can at least play solo. A single-player option is not available forPayday 3at the moment, but players can tackle heists alone by picking Choose Friends Only or Invite Only before matchmaking, and waiting for a few minutes. When no one appears, they may be able to play with bots instead of live players. This may make the game harder than usual, though, as the bots currently have a somewhat limited AI and may not make the most optional moves at all times, but at least it’s a way to overcome the issues. In any case, this is a fix for gamers who still want to playPayday 3while the team is still fixing the servers.
Payday 3is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
