The Immortality Field ability thatOverwatch’scombat medic Baptistesports can really turn the tide in a tight situation, easily deflating an enemy push once their attacks suddenly stop killing players. It’s a powerful ability and Blizzard does what it can to keep it from being too powerful, but thanks to a newly-discovered glitch, it’s possible to throw balance to the wind and take the “immortal” part to a new level.
As a refresher, whenever players activate Immortality Field, Baptiste will drop a drone that projects a field that prevents the health of any teammates inside it from dropping below 20%, no matter how much damage they take. Depending on when and whereOverwatchplayers bust it out, it can quickly reinforce a team’s position or save them from what would otherwise be a team-killing enemy ultimate. To keep things balanced, it’s possible for enemy players to damage and destroy the drone to deactivate the field early.

But apparently, this isn’t possible in a specific spot on the Dorado map. Reddit user Insomniac8 discovered that the drone acts differently when placed against the leaf-covered stone wall just to the left of the gate beyond the first checkpoint. As the footage they shared shows, something about the drone sticking into the wall renders it invincible and enables it to take a full hit fromMoira’s ultimatewithout so much as a scratch.
It gets even crazier, because Insomniac8 also tested out this latest ofOverwatchglitcheswith several other heroes and said that most attacks are incapable of damaging the drone when it’s sticking into the wall. The only ones that did manage to cause any damage, according to them, included D.Va’s Micro Missiles, Sigma’s primary fire and Accretion ability, McCree’s Flashbang, Symmetra’s secondary fire, and Pharah’s primary fire and ultimate. Even then, only the splash damage from these actually hurt the drone.
Obviously, the ability to thwart an enemy team by hunkering down in an indestructible kill-proof box is not something that should stay in the game. In all likelihood, Blizzard will patch this out sooner or later (especially if people spread the word), and the team in charge of squishing bugs has been quick to deal withOverwatch’s other glitches in the past. While Blizzard has yet to actually say anything about this one, odds are players are going to want to figure outother ways to get competitive with Baptiste.
