A few of the changes to Mei inOverwatch 2were so unexpected that a group of gamers started cracking up about it during a match. In many ways,Overwatch 2is just a large patch for the firstOverwatch. The game has added a few new maps, three heroes, and some fresh skins to match the aesthetic they’re going for. Those who played the first game will not be shaken even for a second. The exception to this rule is if the player happened to be a Mei main.
Mei has received sweeping changes, most of which should be classified as buffs. The effect of her slow has gone from taking a full second to just a half second. Her damage has gone from 55 to 100 with her primary attack. Finally, the blaster got a larger capacity, moving from 120 to 150. So long asthe bugs on her attacks and wallsdon’t kick in, this initially looks positive. Unfortunately, there is a single nerf that may ruin the entire character for some players.

Mei can also no longer freeze-stun her enemies (except with her ultimate ability). That stun made her a hard counter to heroes such as Roadhog. Now she’s exceptionally weak against him, especially if the playeruses Roadhog correctly. Upon hearing this news, one player, BOGBOG, took the news personally and his one-word response was posted on Reddit to the delight of the rest of the community.
Gamers wholearn to master Meiwill enjoy most of these changes, even if it does mean she can’t reliably stun heroes anymore. The extra damage and quicker slow make her more viable as a DPS hero. She’s always been great at helping tank. With one tank down in the sequel, these services will be needed now more than ever. When it’s all said and done, this game probably makes her better and not worse in the long run.
That’s still not going to ice any wounds that BOGBOG and others have suffered when finding this information out for the first time in the middle of a game. They’ll be waiting and waiting for an event to happen that simply never occurs. She may be one ofthe best DPS heroes in the gamenow, but the nerf in this specific area is going to break a lot more hearts in the meantime. Hopefully, Mei’s ascent to the top will start after the gamers are finished dealing with this immense tragedy. Mei is a legend, one of the original characters. She’ll break a few hearts for now and win more games in the long run.
