Summary
Admiral Kizaru is one of the most intriguing characters that Odais currently drawing in the Final SagaofOne Piece.Prior to the Final Saga, Kizaru was just an antagonist with a cool ability that fans were excited by whenever he was on the screen. However, now, there is a layer of complexity attached to this character, which is directly tied to his sense of justice as well.
The Egghead Island arc has done wonders for the character of Kizaru, as his relationship with the likes of Vegapunk, Kuma, Bonnet, and Sentomaru has been fully put on display, while his duty to the Marines has been pitted against them. Currently, Kizaru is on Egghead, playing a major role in the war against the Straw Hat Pirates, however, it looks like this place is, ultimately, going to be where he falls.

Kizaru’s Dilemma On Egghead
Kizaru has been focused on quite a lot by Oda lately. He has always been quite a nonchalant person and his easygoing personality was on full display wherever he was fighting inOne Piece, be it Sabaody Archipelago, where he annihilated four of the Supernova captains, or the Paramount War, where he was up against the Whitebeard pirates. Kizaru was always nonchalant, however, the same cannot be said for Egghead Island, where he’s more serious than ever before. This has got to do with the seriousness of the situation, and more importantly, Kizaru’s relationship with the many individuals that are present on the island. In the Kuma flashback, fans finally got to see some of Kizaru’s past as well. Kizaru was assigned to watch over Vegapunk and Kuma while the Pacifista Project was being carried out.
During this time, he formed quite a heartwarming relationship with the likes of Vegapunk, Kuma, and even Bonney. Sentomaru was taken by Kizaru under his own wing and this was because he really had shown care for this boy. Together, they ate, drank, and partied the best they could and the time that they spent was absolutely magical. However, now, the script has been flipped for Kizaru as these individuals that he was once incredibly close with are his enemies.

Kizaru serves the Celestial Dragons as an Admiral of the Navy and now, it is his responsibility to take them down, since they are going against the World Government. However, the dilemma stems from the fact that Kizaru himself knows that what Vegapunk and the others did is technically not wrong. Yet, he must be there to dish the punishment to them. This is precisely where his dilemma is coming from. Kizaru is clearly hesitant about killing these characters and his internal conflict is such that he, for the very first time, is quiet and furious on the inside. Despite his sadness, he can do nothing about it.
Kizaru’s Strengthened Resolve
In the latter half of the Egghead Island arc, Kizaru’s resolve has been seen strengthening with time. When Kizaru first arrived at Egghead, he was seen attacking Bonney and getting her out of his way without killing her. He didn’t want Bonney to die and that is why he got her out of his way immediately. Kizaru took the same approach with Sentomaru, and defeated him in combat rather effortlessly. However, he clearly did not kill him and this was done for a reason. Kizaru did try going for Vegapunk’s head, however, it must be remembered that he did miss his target on a few occasions. The question remains as to whether he missed on purpose or if he actually did not aim correctly.
Regardless of what happened, Kizaru did show some hesitation towards killing Vegapunk. There are even ideas that suggest that Kizaru is the one who fed Luffy because he wanted him to get him out of this difficult situation where his ideals were put to the test. After Kizaru recovered from his defeat to Luffy, he got back right up and this time, declared that it was time for everything to wrap up.Kizaru’s resolve looks stronger than ever before.

Even though he absolutely hates the fact that he has to do this, now, it appears that he has made up his mind and looks determined to get rid of the problems in his way. By taking a deep breath, Kizaru has now decided to annihilate those standing in his way, even if it does pain him in his heart. That is how strong his resolve is right now and this is hinted at by the way he is currently talking and presenting himself.
When the question of whetherKizaru will fall on Eggheador not comes up, the answer is quite simple. For the story to progress, Kizaru will have to be defeated on Egghead Island and that is inevitable. This is especially true because Kizaru has taken the side of Saturn in all the drama and that will inevitably lead to his downfall. Had he taken the side of the pirates, he would have been on the winning side, however, it makes for a better story if he, despite all the pain in his heart, stands by Saturn and does his job. At the end of the day, Kizaru follows Unclear Justice and, in his heart, nothing is black and white. Kizaru knows that he has to fight his friends, however, he also knows that duty comes first. He has previously referred to himself as a corporate slave and that is precisely what he is. Even though he is currently in pain and does not want to get rid of the people on Egghead, he will comply with Saturn’s commands, at least for now.

Kizaru will fight his enemies to the best of his abilities, however, in his heart, he would be wishing for his enemies to defeat him, and for his friends to escape the island successfully. This would be the perfect representation of Kizaru’s internal dilemma. He would attempt to do his duty to the best of his abilities, and, at the same time, he would also find respite in the fact that they managed to escape if they beat him. As to who will fight Kizaru, the ideal candidate would benone other than Sanji of this one Straw Hat Pirates. These two seem to be at the cusp of engaging in an extended fight against each other. If Sanji does end up taking down Kizaru, the Marine Admiral would be glad to know that he has been knocked down and out of the way entirely, paving the way for Vegapunk, Kuma, Bonney, and Sentomaru, to escape from the island. Thus, as Egghead Island falls, it is very likely that Kizaru and Saturn will fall with it, which is what makes this arc so special.
