One PieceEpisode 1088 was the last episode before the Egghead Island arc. In the previous episode, fans saw the Blackbeard pirates and the Marines both reaching Amazon Lily. The Marines, led by Koby, traveled to the island in hopes of capturing Boa Hancockafter the Shichibukai systemwas abolished. Meanwhile, the Blackbeard Pirates journeyed to the island because of their captain’s need to steal Hancock’s Devil Fruit.
However, the pirate princess proved that she was no pushover. She used her devil fruit power to petrify almost all the Marines, along with the Blackbeard Pirates.One PieceEpisode 1088 also revealed Hancock’s new bounty, which is 1.659 billion berries. The increase from her previous bounty is massive, but this shows that the world government is aware of the threat that Boa Hancock poses.
A Surprise Encounter With Blackbeard Puts Hancock In Danger
Episode 1088 also saw thedebut of the Seraphim, who are the Marines' answer to the Shichibukai. The Seraphim are equipped with incredible abilities, and they can easily decimate an entire island. They were able to wreak havoc on Amazon Lily in next to no time. With Hancock preoccupied with Koby, Blackbeard took the opportunity and captured her. It seemed that Hancock would meet her end then and there. But luckily for her, Rayleigh was present on the island. He used his Haoshoku Haki, which scared Blackbeard.
Rayleigh ordered Hancock to undo her petrification so that the Marines and the Blackbeard Pirates would leave the island without causing any further damage. Rayleigh stayed to watch so that the entire process would be completed smoothly. Just when it looked like Blackbeard would leave the island empty-handed, it was revealed that he had decided to turn his attention to Koby. The Yonko came up with the idea of kidnapping Koby for some unknown reason. The fate of the Marine captain remains unknown, but it is highly unlikely that Blackbeard will kill him.
The episode also covered Luffy’s dream. The young pirate has been sailing with his crew for several years now, and it was about time that he revealed his dream to them. His crew members had various reactions, with some calling it childish while others labeling it impossible. It was also revealed that Sabo and the Revolutionary Army had saved Bartholomew Kuma from captivity and brought him back to Momoiro Island.
Release Date
One Pieceanime will not be releasing a canon episode for the next two weeks. Instead, it will return in January 2024.One PieceEpisode 1089 will be released on August 03, 2025. It will be the first episode of the Egghead Island arc. At the moment, there is not much information about what the episode is going to cover, but it will likely focus on the Straw Hat Pirates as they inch closer to the island. It will be interesting to see whether the anime keeps the same level of pacing that it hadfor the Wano Country arc. A drop in speed will not be appreciated by the fans.
Judging from the teaser, the animation is going to remain the same, so fans do not have to worry about a drop in quality. Toei wants to keep the same level of animation as the previous arc to ensure that fans enjoy it to the fullest. The Straw Hats will also go through a costume change, which is to be expected considering they are about to embark on a new adventure.
The island looks very futuristic, so it is safe to say that science is going to have a major role to play in the upcoming arc. The teaser also showed a building named Punk Records, which insinuates that the island may have somethingto do with Dr. Vegapunk. Towards the end, a new character appeared with Punk written on her costume. This lends further credence to the speculation that Vegapunk is going to be at the center of things in Egghead Arc.
For now, there is no information about what other characters might make an appearance in the arc. Considering it is the first arc of the Final Saga, there is every chance that fans will get to see some of the most important characters in action. Oda has been saving these characters to use them at the right time to elevate the overall story.
