Fans of R. L. Stine’s horror fiction novel seriesGoosebumpscan expect to see a new game in the multimedia franchise it has spawned according to a rating released Tuesday by the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) review board forGoosebumps: Dead of Night. It will be a survival horror game developed by Cosmic Forces which will be available for theNintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
While not much is said about the content ofGoosebumps: Dead of Nightin the PEGI review, the game received a 12 for having “moderate violence, realistic violence of a minor nature towards human characters and scenes of a horrific nature that younger players may find disturbing,” alongside “bad language.” PEGI uses numbers to indicate a minimum suitable age for players, unlike the American ESRB which uses letter grades like T for Teen on games likeIron Man VRfor the PlayStation 4.

WhileGoosebumpsis a brand that’s relatively more kid-friendly in its rebooted iteration from 2015, the original books and their Canadian/American anthology TV series from the 90s are considered to be great entry-level horror experiences. The idea of a survival horror game based on the series could have a lot of potential, and in Nintendo’s case speaks to their increasing willingness to addhorrific games like theZombie Army Trilogyon Switch.
Goosebumps: Dead of Nightwill be releasing on the Nintendo Switch, PC, and the Xbox One at some point in the future.
