One of the biggest games at the PS5 games showcase event was undoubtedly Capcom’sResident Evil 8. TheRE8reveal trailerwas well-received by fans of the franchise, and left many anxious to see more. Capcom hasn’t released any additionalResident Evil 8trailers or other promotional material since the initial one, but if a reputable leaker is to be believed, that will change sooner rather than later.
AestheticGamer, who has accurately leaked a lot ofResident Evilnews in the past, has made the claim that Capcom will be showing a newRE8trailer at some point in August “along with some other things.” What that means exactly remains to be seen, but fans should find out in the coming weeks. And while AestheticGamer didn’t provide an exact date in August whenResident Evil 8fans can expect to see the game again, one distinct possibility comes to mind.

Rumors have been swirling that Sony plans on hosting anew PlayStation 5 State of Play eventin August to show off more upcoming PS5 games. The rumors claim that the event will take place on August 6, though Sony has yet to make any official confirmation. SinceResident Evil 8was unveiled alongside the PS5 back in June, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see the game showcased at the next PS5 event as well.
Then again, Sony may want to keepRE8off the next PS5 event lineup so that it doesn’t overshadow therumoredSilent HillPS5 exclusive game. AestheticGamer has also made mention of theSilent HillPS5 game in the past, which is expected to be revealed by the end of the year. Some reports suggested that Sony even planned on showing theSilent HillPS5 game at the PS5 games showcase event in June, but plans changed for unknown reasons.
As for what the “other things” are that AestheticGamer could be referring to, a Capcom survey has suggested that there will be aResident Evil 8playable demoreleased at some point prior to launch, but it’s unlikely to be made available in August. Unless plans change, Capcom only intends on releasingRE8for high-powered PCs and next-generation consoles. So if a demo does come out, it will likely not be available until the PS5 and Xbox Series X launch later this year.
Whatever Capcom shows ofResident Evil 8in August, here’s hoping it gives fans some more answers aboutRE8’s villains, new gameplay features, and more.
Resident Evil 8will launch in 2021 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
