Bandai Namco Entertainment’s forthcoming action RPGDragon Ball Z: Kakarothas confirmed a ton of playable characters in the past few weeks, ranging from Majin Vegeta toSuper Saiyan 3 Gotenks, but its support characters haven’t received a ton of love until today. The publisher released a new trailer that focuses on some of the game’s playable and support character, detailing their play styles and abilities.
Before moving forward, it’s worth mentioning that thisDragon Ball Z: Kakarottrailer does not feature every single playable or support character, but it does seems to show plenty from the beginning through the Freiza Saga. This would suggest trailers detailing characters from the Cell Saga and theMajin Buu Sagawill also appear in the coming weeks.

As far as playable characters go, this trailer focuses on Gohan, Piccolo, and Vegeta. Gohan is described as fighter whose bet in hand-to-hand combat, with the trailer also showing Gohan fishing and exploring Kame House. Piccolo is described as a more hardy character with high health stats and a good defense against Ki Blasts, and his explosive wave and Special Beam Cannon moves are showcased. Vegeta is more of a Ki-oriented fighter and is effective against single or multiple fights, which makes sense thatVegeta’s first gameplay inDragon Ball Z: Kakarotshowcased a 3v1 fight.
The support characters that are detailed are Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu, with it also being revealed that players can take 2 support characters with them at any time. Each has a specific skillset that will allow them to benefit the playable character in a multitude of ways. Krillin, for example, has Destructo Disc that will chase targets to deal easy damage and Solar Flare to temporarily stun enemies inDragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
Yamcha can hold and deal damage to an enemy with his Spirit Ball, as well as taunt enemies to draw them away from the player. Tien can also use Solar Flare but also has the high damage-dealing Tri-Beam Attack ability. Like Yamcha, Chiaotzu can hold an enemy, but with his psychic abilities, he can hold them for quite some time in contrast. Support characters can also join in on melee combos, Ki Blast barrages, recovery efforts, and more. Overall, there’s still plenty to be revealed aboutsupport characters inDragon Ball Z: Kakarot, but this is certainly a nice introduction.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotis set to release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on July 24, 2025.
