ADragon Ball Z: Kakarotleak recently revealed that the game’s DLC would beintroducing a new card battle game mode, but not much else about it has been shared. Earlier today, however, new V Jump leaks have given fans a small glimpse of what the game mode will look like.
The page focuses mainly on other topics, such as the battle between Goku and Beerus, but in the bottom right corner a screenshot of what looks to beDragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s card battle can be seen. Given that it is a small portion of a scanned page it is incredibly blurry, but it does shed some light on the new mode.

For starters, it appears that some of the cards are characters from the game. For instance, what looks likeSaiyan Saga Vegetacan be seen on the opposite side of the board, and a Hercule card is found on the player’s side as well.
The enlarged Goku card on the left hand side seems to show at least four important things. The number in the top left corner may detail the card’s cost or rarity, while it seems that the symbol in the bottom left of the card indicates its type. There are four symbols shown below the card, one of which matches up with the symbol on Goku’s card, so these may be the four types of cards. Finally, there are two numbers, in this case both of them are 4000, that may represent the card’s attack and defense power, similar toYu-Gi-Ohperhaps.
Of course, this is all speculation, and until a translated version of this comes out or anofficial reveal from Bandai Namcodetails how this mode will work, nothing is certain. It also seems like the beam streaking across the field originates from the player’s side, so perhaps the Goku card is actually a Kamehameha action card of sorts, and it looks like it is attacking a Saiyan Saga Vegeta representing the enemy directly. All in all though, the addition of a card battle mode toDragon Ball Z: Kakarotis rather strange.
How this card battle mode will work and what sorts of rewards it will come with remains to be seen, but the choice to add it to this seems rather strange. Many at first thought it would be reminiscent toDragon Ball Xenoverse 2’s Hero Colosseummode, but the new screenshot seems to refute that assumption.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
