Battlefield Vis the most recent game in the series to be released, and that first-person shooter launched back in 2018. For fans of the franchise, that is quite a long wait. In fact, withCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warrolling out recently, many believed thatnews of the nextBattlefieldneeded to get ahead ofCall of Duty 2021. Because of that, it is exciting that Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson announced during an earnings call that someBattlefieldnews is on the way.

Wilson promised a newBattlefieldwould be ready for this holiday season. As per usual with the franchise, the game will feature massive and immersive battles. On top of that, Wilson also said the game will allow for more players at a time than any game in the series before it, giving credence to the recentrumors that the nextBattlefieldwould have a massive player count. Fans can expect a full reveal ofBattlefieldlater this spring.
There have been plenty ofgreatBattlefieldgames, and for a stretch of time they were coming out with small development cycles every one to two years. While 2018’sBattlefield Vreceived generally favorable reviews, the game was marred with matchmaking issues, challenge tracking problems, odd UI design choices, and a bevy of glitches. The fact that this new one will have had plenty of time in the oven should give it the chance to be special, which is assuredly what fans are hoping for.
Althoughrumors point toBattlefield 2021not beingBad Company 3, there are plenty of fans who hope it will be. TheBad Companygames did not sell anywhere nearly as well as the mainline games in the series, specificallyBattlefield 3, Battlefield 4, andBattlefield 1. Spin-off games like theBad Companyseries andBattlefield: Hardlinedo not seem to put up the same sort of numbers. That being said, especially after a long hiatus, a bigBattlefieldgame with the marketing behind it may sell well regardless. Fans should expect to find out what exactly this new game is all about in the coming months.
