My Hero Academiaseemed like a rather wholesome show in its initial stages, but the series doesn’t shy away from taking rather dark turns. This is especially notable in the characters themselves, with some of the villains being ridiculously unstable at times. Here are somecharacters fromMy Hero Academiawho don’t dial it down when it comes to their ruthlessness.
8Gigantomachia
A villain who is mostly muscle with barely any brain, Gigantomachia is a pretty unique character. This berserk villain needs to be tamed by Shigarakiin order to prove his worth as the worthy inheritor of All for One.
He’s clearly wired for destruction and doesn’t really care about anything in its way. Only All for One’s voice can soothe him, although this changes once he submits his will to Shigaraki.

7Re-Destro
While Re-Destro had a pretty compelling backstory, he ultimately wasn’t a villain that really believed in his actions. His battle against Shigaraki showed that he was nothing more than a mere pretender to the throne.
However, he did have his strengths and was considered to be a worthy addition to his team by Shigaraki. His ruthlessness was definitely one of them, even though it had been significantly quelled following his altercation with Shigaraki.

6Stain
The arc featuring Stain was a powerful one, with this villain harboring a deep and disturbing hatred for heroes. His presence itself was so terrifying that it sparked a resurgence of villains who actually believed in their actions.

It doesn’t help that his Quirk is also pretty gruesome in its own right, allowing him to paralyze anyone after tasting their blood. The fight to take him down is a vicious one, butthe heroes of Class 1-Amanage to subdue this terrifying threat with the efficient use of their powers.
5Overhaul
Overhaul is one of the most despicable villains in the entire series. The manner in which he used Eri for his own selfish gains was horrible and made it clear for everyone to see that he would take the crown of being the most hated character in the series. The fact that he also killed Nighteye and took Mirio’s Quirk away adds to his list of infractions.
That being said, the manner in which he was absolutelyhumiliated by the League of Villainswas still hard to watch. Suffice to say, Overhaul won’t be playing a major role in the story any time soon.

4Dabi
The fiery member of the League of Villains is easily one of the most intriguing characters in the entire series. Anime fans can’t wait to understand his backstory and how closely he’s tied to the heroes… which is what makes his egregious and brutal actions even worse.
Dabi has a powerful Quirk, but it’s clear for everyone to see that he doesn’t perform anything heroic with it. In fact, his appearance in the latest arc made it clear that Dabi will go to extreme lengths to ensure that he gets what he wants.

3Himiko Toga
Himiko falls under the classic definition of a yandere, whose psychotic personality makes her a liability who can explode at any given second.Given the latest developments in the anime, it seems that her powers are heading towards an upward trajectory indeed.

This is the worst possible thing that can impede the heroes in the series. Himiko is anything but stable, and the fact that she has now developed an immensely powerful Quirk spells doom for the heroes.
2Tomura Shigaraki
It would be impossible to talk about ruthless characters inMy Hero Academiawithout talking about the enigma that isTomura Shigaraki. He’s easily one of the most villainous characters in the series, with the peek into his twisted childhood cementing why Shigaraki is one of the most compelling villains of all time.
His disintegration Quirk was already powerful enough before it received a power-up in the series. However, the fact that he’s going to become the next inheritor of One for All is a scary prospect, and it’s only a given that Shigaraki is going to reach a level of power that no one could’ve expected.

1All For One
The man that started it all was always going to be the most ruthless person on this list by a country mile. Words aren’t enough to describe the villainous nature of All for One, who has been All Might’s sworn nemesis for the longest time and understandably so. Thankfully, the final vestiges of One for All that resided within All Mightallowed him to deliver a solid punchthat took this villain out of commission.
Of course, given the devilish nature of All for One, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that he could make his way back into the fold in some crafty way or another. Whether this might happen is anyone’s guess, but it would be a pretty compelling plot threat indeed.
