Player First Games and Warner Bros have a massive hit on their hands with the brawlerMultiversus. Season 1 has recently launched and even after an already strong beta period, the free to playMultiversuspassed another huge milestone by surpassing over 20 million players. With constant updates and communication from the development studio, it seemsMultiversushas a bright future, with plenty more content still to come in the weeks and months ahead.

For a brawling in a similar vein to Nintendo’sSuper Smash Bros, roster additions are a big deal to many in the community. With the massive amount of franchises and IPs that Warner Bros has, theMultiversusroster continues to expand with all sorts of characters and creatures from LeBron James ofSpace Jam, the recently added Morty, and evenupcoming characters like Black Adam and Stripe the Gremlin. However, a recent trademark made by Warner Bros games seemingly confirms that even memes have a place inside ofMultiversus.

Spotted by Andrew Marmo, Warner Bros put in a trademark request with the European Union Intellectual Property Office for a character known as Big Chungus. Originally filed on August 26, the trademark would allow Warner Bros to use the Big Chungus likeness and name in a video game. While it doesn’t specifically mentionMultiversusby name, the character itself seems to be a natural fit for the game which already has tons of callbacks, references, and nostalgia fueled content.

Big Chungus is a newer Bugs Bunny meme, originally becoming wildly popular in 2018 and featuring the iconic rabbit as a much heavier version. In fact, this trademark isn’t the first time that Warner Bros has taken notice of the big rabbit as it was previouslyadded to a mobile game calledLooney Tunes: World of Mayhem. Still, this trademark doesn’t guarantee Big Chungus will become a playable character inMultiversus, but it could be added as a premium skin for Bugs, or perhaps used in other ways like a ring out animation.

Characters remain a big focus with the community, many of which plug their ideas toMultiVersusgame director Tony Huynh over social media. Fans have requested all sorts of characters across Warner Bros' massive catalogue like Scorpion fromMortal Kombatto Walter White fromBreaking Bad, and even Gandalf fromThe Lord of the Rings. Some fans even go a step further by developing a complete character kit like one individual who took the characterSaul Goodman and designed a complete moveset for himas if he was being added toMultiversus.

MultiVersusis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
