The Nintendo Switch has had a stellar year, with plenty of first-party games that managed to exceed expectations and a ton of Indies that impressed. But one of the most impressive Switch games of the year has to beMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, a massive expansion to the already content-rich game.
Adding another 20 hours to the base game,Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakbrought a slew of new monsters, weapons, biomes, and mechanics.Sunbreakwas a truly impressive expansion, but Capcom isn’t done with it just yet. Capcom has announced itsTokyo Game Show 2022 schedule, andMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakis set to take the virtual stage.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Is Scheduled for Tokyo Game Show 2022
Fans can get an overview ofCapcom’s schedule for the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2022on the company’s website. While it is hosting both online and in-person events for a few days, September 15 is the big standout with Capcom set to show off a few of its most anticipated games. AlongsideResident Evil Village Gold,Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection,Exoprimal, andStreet Fighter 6,Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakis set to appear.
At last year’s Tokyo Game Show, Capcom brought a wealth ofMonster Hunternews to the table. On top of someMonster Hunter StoriesDLC, Capcom also provided more details about its then-upcoming Sunbreak expansion forMonster Hunter Rise, revealing a handful of new monsters and locations. It was also announced thatMonster Hunter Risewould be heading to Steam in January 2022.
WithMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakalready released, the most likely reveal to come from the showcase would beSunbreak’s Free Title Update 2. Just before Sunbreak hit shelves, Capcom announced it would providing a handful of free updates for the game in the months to follow. The first of these updates brought four new monsters to the game, some new Anomaly Quests, and a new Anomaly Research Lab.
The next Free Title Update forMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakis slated for “late September,” so it seems pretty likely that’s what Capcom is revealing at the Tokyo Game Show 2022. If the update follows the same trend as its predecessor, it could bring a handful of new monsters along with some quests, and possibly even a new feature similar to the first update’s Quirious Crafting.
It’s already been confirmed thatFlaming Espinasis headed toMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakwith the next Free Title Update, along with more Rare Species variants. Capcom has also teased a new type of monster called the “Powered-Up Monsters,” though no exact details have been given just yet. A range of quality-of-life improvements are also apparently coming toMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakwith Free Title Update 2, including increased loadout shortcuts and the ability to lock armor sets to ensure that they’re not accidentally sold.
