One of the fun gameplay features in theMonster Hunterseries has its players eating canteen meals before each hunt to get a variety of buffs. Over the years, the series has moved across many gaming platforms like the PlayStation Portable, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and even PC, and so has the food served in the game’s canteens changed and evolved. Now, Capcom has shared a new video that gives a glimpse of the new features ofMonster Huntercanteen foodin its upcoming expansion,Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.

WhenMonster Hunter Risewas released back in 2021, the game introduced players to a more Japanese-themed environment.Monster Hunter Risewas set in Kamura Villagewhere Japanese-inspired architecture could be seen everywhere. The monsters were also based on creatures and demons from Japanese folklore and mythology. To coincide with the theme,MH Rise’s canteen was turned into the Tea Shop, where Yomogi the Chef makes delicious dango for hunters to eat before they go on hunts. Fortunately, Capcom has retained the Tea Shop from the base game, and players will see the familiar delicacies from the canteen inSunbreak’s Elgado Outpost.

To show off one of the new features of the canteen inMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Capcom shared a short video on the title’s official Twitter account. According to the post and video, hunters will be able to choose “Hopping Skewers,” which will sacrifice the third buff for a chance to enhance the first two chosen buffs. Given thatMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakintroduces Master Rank difficulty, being able to enhance two powerful buffs will seem like a better option than having three stat buffs that may not be effective against a specific monster.

The Hopping Skewers feature is the only one shared by Capcom about the game’s canteen so far. The devs pointed out that regular skewers will still be available, so hunters do not have to worry about losing some of their favorite dango buffs from theMonster Hunter RiseTea Shop. The team also warned players that they should still take note of the activation chance of these buffs, likely to encourage them to make their dango choices wisely.

With only a month left until the release ofMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Capcom is fully utilizing its channels to excite its community. Sharing previews of new Silkbind Attacks and showcasing Malzeno’s special power of darkness, the devs are likely hoping that these updates will keep fan’s excitement high until the expansion’s official launch date.
