AMinecraftfan, seemingly not wanting to stick with the regular method of gaining entrance into a building, shows off an impressively futuristic door, complete with smooth opening and closing action. Although many consider thevideo game more suitable for children, Mojang’s IP has transcended age groups, appealing to people from all walks of life. Its distinctive look, expansive world ripe for exploration, and creative building mechanics are what have helpedMinecraftstay at the top of the gaming industry for well over a decade.
Over the years, people have created all sorts of structures andfascinating contraptions inMinecraft. Of course, not everything needs to be built, as the game offers up some assets for use straight out the box. Doors are an example of this. For players who are constructing an abode to live in, crafting a door is straightforward, as well as being useful for keeping out nighttime creatures. However, not everyone is satisfied with the vanilla method of entering a room and would rather go for something much more elaborate.

That’s where Reddit user ollieledge comes into the picture. In a brief clip of theirMinecraftplaythrough, they showed a unique entry to an interior structure that they built. Approaching a bronze archway filled with turquoise blocks, the player presses a button, which then activates the door. Only this isn’t any ordinary door. The turquoise blockade pulls back before splitting into individual segments, each of which then smoothly glides into the wall to create an entrance. What’s even more impressive about ollieledge’s creation is the inclusion of some sci-fi sound effects to really sell the whole thing. The user says they built the door in the vanilla version of the game using about 400 command blocks.
Command blocks inMinecraftare extremely useful, allowing for all sorts of actions, though they aren’t something that can be obtained through normal play. Command blocks can set certain parameters and give the player powers they wouldn’t normally have, such as being able to kill a target, summon an NPC, or change the weather.
One ofMinecraft’s greatest strengthsis its ability to allow for almost infinite creativity, which gives the game its longevity. There’s no telling how long it will stay at the top, but with Mojang continuing to output updates and the fan base always showing off unique builds, it will be hard to imagine a world without the blocky sandbox title.
Minecraftis available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
