The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis coming down from its raving reception as many fans are either finishing up the game or still continuing to find all the secrets its Hyrule has to offer. Players are still sharing all ofZelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s immensely creative Ultrahand capabilitiesthey have come up with thus far, whether they’re tormenting adorable Koroks or finding unorthodox ways of traversing a chasm, and meanwhile another highly anticipated game inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2has recently revealed a ton of gameplay during the PlayStation Showcase.

In roughly 11 minutes of gameplay, many questions fans had aboutMarvel’s Spider-Man 2have been swiftly answered. There might not be an extravagant amount of time set aside now for pre-release marketing before the game launches this fall, but enough has been shown to easily whet fans’ appetites until then. Funny enough, one of the more amusing memes to come fromZelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s pre-release marketing was the official reveal of its Ganondorf, and how fans immediately responded to it. The same can now be said aboutMarvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Kraven.

Kraven and Ganondorf Represent a Couple of Beefed Up Antagonists

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Kraven andZelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s Ganondorfshare many physical similarities. Both antagonists have beards, wear their hair tied up, are brazenly bare-chested, and possess incredible muscle mass. The latter observations were made in particular when it came to Ganondorf, with fans delighted to see this iteration of the Demon King.

This resulted in fan art and memes referring to his aesthetic, which could have only servedZelda: Tears of the Kingdomwell. Kraven is not inherently portrayed as a character with an incredible amount of physical appeal, at least not in his original comic book runs, but that arguably changed inUltimate Spider-Manwhen he was originally depicted as a reality TV star and host.

It seems like now is a great time to feature Kraven as a main antagonist, too, since Sony’s standalone Kraven movie is also in the works starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Kraven is also featured as a main antagonist inThe Amazing Spider-Man 2, and it will be interesting to see how similar his role is between both games. Now,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2has managed to take an approach that is surprisingly faithful to the hunter’s original design, but is also kept modern in many ways that depict him as rugged and savage.

Kraven is clearly physically imposing, but it is unknown if that is due to a natural honing of his body or if other matters were considered in garnering his strength and stealth tactics. Kraven has been known to take chemical supplements to enhance his strength and senses, but it has not yet been clarified ifMarvel’s Spider-Man 2’s interpretation of him has done the same.

Ganondorf is a prominent part ofThe Legend of Zelda’s franchiseand after as many iterations of the characters as there have been, it is great to see him be so well-received inZelda: Tears of the Kingdom. If Kraven poses half as much of a threat as Ganondorf does,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2will undoubtedly have its hands full.

Kraven will not be the only antagonistPeter Parker and Miles Moralesneed to worry about. However, it will be interesting to see how he matches up against the prey he has sought out in New York City, and if he is able to take on both Spider-Men at the same time—let alone a hulking Lizard—then Kraven will surely be able to back up how superior he believes himself to be as an apex predator.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2launches this fall, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
