It’s certainly a good time to be aStar Warsfan. Between the recent sequel trilogy and the bevy of new show and game announcements, with at least 10 new projects confirmed at Disney’s recent Investor Day event.No matter what flavor ofStar Warsaudiences prefer, there will be something that suits their particular interests.
One of the projects that has been known for longer than investment day, however, is the upcomingObi-Wanshow, which is set to see Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen reprise their roles from the prequel trilogy of films. The show is supposedly going to be set between the prequel and original trilogy of films and will explore some of the timeline that bridges the gap betweenRevenge of the SithandA New Hope.

With the news of returning actors, fans have naturally been keen to speculate on who else might be returning to the franchise. Between the recent appearance of Darth Maul inSolo: A Star Wars Story, andthe success ofThe Clone Warsanimated series, it’s certainly not ridiculous to hold out hope for more cameos from even less central figures in the universe.
One of those hotly desired characters is Qui-Gon Jin, who appeared inStar Wars: Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. While his character played a small role overall, he was expanded significantly in supplementary material, and is still regarded fondly by fans both for his fleshed-out personality in the expanded universe, and Liam Neeson’s performance of the character.
It doesn’t seem as though Neeson was aware of thecharacter’s significant legacy among fans. When asked byColliderif he was familiar with the frequent calls for his character’s return he admitted: “I’ll be honest with you: I haven’t heard that at all.” In fact, Neeson was a bit out of touch withStar Warsin general, asking the outlet what was going on with the franchise currently and if it was “fading away” from the cinema landscape.
Once he had been assured thatStar Warswasn’t going anywhere, he was asked if he might be interested in returning to the role of Qui-Gon in the upcomingObi-Wanshow. In response, the actor simply smiled and remarked: “Sure, I’d be up for that, yeah.” So it would seem that while no such appearance has been discussed yet, a return of Qui-Gon Jin certainly isn’t off the table for futureStar Warsprojects.
