Kirby and the Forgotten Landhas been a massive success for Nintendo and HAL Laboratory, with this being the franchise’s transition into a full 3D adventure. It has been both a commercial and critical success, with many fans lauding the game for managing to take the series into a bold new direction, while retaining the aspects that made its formula a hit. Not only that, thestorytelling forKirby and the Forgotten Landhas been highly praised as well, giving fans a grander cinematic adventure than ever before while maintaining the high stakes that appear at the climax.
This sense of a climactic finale is maintained in this newestKirbygame, withKirby and the Forgotten Land’s final bossin particular being one of the highest points of the adventure. It pits Nintendo’s pink demon against another eldritch abomination that fans have come to expect in the endgame, with fans agreeing that the finale is one of the strongest in the franchise. One fan decided to mod the final boss into Shadow the Hedgehog, a different, albeit fitting choice in context.The following will contain endgame SPOILERS forKirby and the Forgotten Land.

In a video posted by Twitter user Miss_Katsune, she showed off her mod that changed the game’s final boss fromFecto Elfilisto Shadow the Hedgehog. Fecto Elifilis is known as “The Ultimate Life Form” in the context ofForgotten Land, and is the completed fusion of Fecto Forgo and Elfilin. It has the ability to teleport, summon energy spears, use a giant spear weapon, and summon spatial rifts that can open gateways to other planets. These abilities and its title as “The Ultimate Life Form” make Shadow the Hedgehog a perfect fit as a replacement.
This mod scales Shadow to be the size of the final boss, which has him appear with the same boss subtitle as the others inKirby and the Forgotten Land, though now with Shadow’s name instead of Fecto Elfilis. Since the mod was rigged over Fecto Elfilis' body, there are aspects that don’t flow quite as seamlessly, such as Shadow’s lack of emoting since Fecto Elfilis doesn’t emote much during the actual fight either.
This mod can be downloaded from GameBanana, alongside with otherKirby and the Forgotten Landmods. One of these also demonstrated in Miss_Katsune’s video is a mod that replaces Kirby’s Sword ability and hat with a makeover inspired byA Hat in Time. It gives Kirby the Hat Kid’s signature hat as well as umbrella instead of a sword.
