During the studio’s latest developer livestream, Bungie confirmed that Act 2 ofDestiny 2Episode: Echoes will launch on Tuesday, July 16 with the upcoming weekly reset. In Echoes Act 2,Destiny 2players will head back to Nessus as the story unfolds, and new areas become accessible in the episode’s Battlegrounds activities.

Destiny 2’sfinal season, Season of the Wish, officially came to an end with the launch oftheFinal Shapeexpansion, which served as the conclusion to the Light and Darkness saga. On June 11, Bungie released the first-ever Episode ofDestiny 2, Echoes. In the first Act of the new episode, players attempt to discover the meaning of Echoes, strange and powerful matter scattered across the solar system. Nessus reacts to the Echoes, prompting Guardians, Osiris, and Saint-14 to team up with Failsafe to find out what’s happening on the planet. Act 2 will continue the story following the revelations from Act 1’s ending, which saw Saint-14 encounter a mysterious villain known as the Conductor.

Bungie’s latest developer livestream on Twitch revealed thatDestiny 2Episode: Echoes Act 2will launch on July 16 with three new Battlegrounds activities, new gear and artifact perks, and limited-time events like Solstice. These Battleground activities will see players delve deeper into Nessus as they track the movement of Vex radiolaria that was drained from a major well on the planet. The drained well reveals a new area on Nessus that Guardians will explore toward the center of the planet. While playing the new Battleground activities, players will encounter armies of Fallen willing to take advantage of the power vacuum left after the Witness' defeat and claim the Echo for themselves.Destiny 2narrative director Alison Luhrs notes that players will also see the Vex continue to undergo strange behavioral changes throughout the course of Act 2’s story.

Destiny 2 Episode: Echoes Act 2 Launches on July 16

Alongside the story and Battleground activities of Echoes Act 2,Destiny 2players will have access to new legendary weapons like the Abberant Action sidearm and the Corrasion pulse rifle.Saint-14’s signature Perfect Paradox shotgunwill make its return, alongside several reprised weapons from Season of Dawn. Moreover, a new row of artifact perks will be available, including Anti-Barrier Sniper Rifle, Authorized Mods: Scavenger, Incendiary Rifle Rounds, Solar Fumination, and Sniper’s Mediation. Bungie also confirms that Tex Mechanica scout rifles, including the Dead Man’s Tale Exotic weapon, will receive a 30% damage buff in PvE in Echoes Act 2.

The annual Solstice event will begin sometime during Echoes Act 2, and more details will be revealed soon, according to Bungie. New concept artwork for this year’s Solstice Warlock, Titan, and Hunter armor was shown during the livestream.

Lastly, Bungie confirmed Act 2 and Act 3 of Echoes will continue to feature weekly story beats. InDestiny 2Episode 2: Revenant, each Act’s entire story will be available to play as it launches, instead of weekly story releases. Player feedback from Echoes Act 1 led the team at Bungie to make this major story change for Revenant, since story pacing was a major point of contention for players in Act 1.
