Capcom recently announced throughMonster Hunter Rise’s official social media accounts that three different collaborations would be delisted in the near future.Monster Hunter Rise’s crossover content withSonic the Hedgehog, Universal Studios Japan, and Sengan-an are all scheduled to be unavailable for download as of January 21. Following their removal, new players will no longer be able to access the crossover content or acquire the rewards. Those who have already downloaded the content will still be able to use the armor and weapons in-game, though they will be unable to re-download the content.

The sunsetting ofMonster Hunter Rise’s crossover content comes as Capcom continues to wind down the game’s content cycle. The developer would hold itsfinal digital event forMonster Hunter Rise Sunbreakin June, officially drawing the content cycle for the expansion to a close. Capcom did, however, debut a newMonster Hunterspinoff later in the year, teaming up withPokemon GOdeveloper Niantic forMonster Hunter Now, a GPS-based mobile game.

Capcom wrapping upMonster Hunter Rise’s update cycle has come with plenty of speculation about where the popular franchise will go from here. Leaks have suggested thata newMonster Huntergamemay be coming to the Switch 2, the currently unannounced follow-up to the Nintendo handheld-home console hybrid. Rumors of an unannounced Capcom game releasing in early 2024 have also sparked speculation that a newMonster Huntergame may be on the way soon.
